Recap:"I'm Alicia Chesley."
~
"Could you please not tell that to Johnny Depp?"
~
"I won't tell him my name if that's what you want."
~
"But. Johnny, do you have any idea how furious she will be if she finds out that you met Alicia and went to grab a coffee with her?""No, look I'll tell her. Just, could you please not tell her yourself?"
~
Charis wants me to keep a secret from Johnny, and Johnny wants me to keep another secret from Charis.
~
"I'm afraid she might already have told him her name."
~
That can't be a good thing.
~Johnny's P.O.V
My phone rung and I saw it was Charis. For some reason I got a little bit nervous, and raised my head to look at Alicia Chesley, who was sitting in front of me, sipping some coffee and checking the script of "There's a monster in my closet". I glanced at my phone again.
"Aren't you going to pick it up?" I heard Alicia telling me casually.
"Um...yeah. Yes." I mumbled, but right then my phone stopped ringing. I saw Alicia looking at me with one eyebrow cracked. "I'll... I'll just go outside for a minute, if you don't mind."
Alicia shook her head. "Not at all. Go ahead." and continued looking at the script.
I got up slowly, and then went outside as quickly as I could. Immediately, I called back Charis. She answered right away.
"Heyyy honeyy... Sorry I didn't answer before". I said, but I couldn't find any excuse to that. Luckily, she didn't ask for any.
"Hi Johnny, where are you?" I heard her voice speedy and unsteady. She must have been walking for too long or running.
"I'm at the coffee house with a colleague, practicing lines. Where are you?" I told her. This wasn't a lie, of course, just half the truth. I would tell her the other half face to face. Better that way.
"Oh, I'm just going home. I was at Mona's office."
"On foot? And who is Mona?" I frowned.
"Mona is my best friend. You should meet her one of these days. And, yes Johnny, on foot. Remember, we drove with your car at work."
"Oh, yes of course. I'm sorry. Do you want me to pick you up?" I offered.
She said she would liked that and told me exactly where she was. Then we hanged up and I walked back in. Alicia was still reading the script. I didn't even bother to sit down. I just stood next to our table, frozen, waiting for her to look at me.
"Who was that?" She asked, her eyes not leaving the script at all.
"Um... That was...". I didn't know who to refer to Charis. I'd say my girlfriend, but then again, we hadn't told anyone about that yet, and I didn't want a girl I had just met to know that first. "Just a friend of mine." I concluded.
She snorted raising both of her eyebrows. Then she looked at me with a very seducing way, as she was sitting below me and I looking so much taller. I bet she looks at men like that very often, to make them feel powerful and therefore important. "I thought it was your girlfriend." She said finally.
I gulped silently. "Girlfriend?" I barley said and turned my look to my eye level, looking at nothing special, just away from this girl. I tried to bring out my best acting-casual face I could. This should be easy for me, you would say, but you have no idea. Acting like you have feelings is so much easier than hiding your actual ones.
"Yeah." She simply continued. "I knew from the media that you were currently single, but, well, you should never trust the media; especially on such issues." She folded her script, put it in her bag, and got up, finding my look and capturing it, not letting it escape again.
