The Battle

As Y/N's captor draws a pistol and begins to open fire on them, she thinks to herself,

Hunter: I might need backup; I can't take this many people.

A series of attacks fly towards the hunter as her armor deflects most of it, and she is able to make distance with her jetpack as she quickly blocks a flurry of blows from Yang as Ruby jumps on her back and tries to slice The hunter heads off with her Crescent Rose Scythe, but it just creates sparks as the hunter quickly spins around and tosses Ruby off her back.

Yang: Give us back our man, you kidnapper!

Yang shouts as she punches the hunter in the chest, knocking her away; the hunter quickly recovers and pulls out a small pistol and opens fire on her foes. As she fires, Ruby gets hit, as it seems not to be lethal but is full of gas that knocks her out. The hunter looks surprised as Blake stabs her in her shoulder.

The Hunter grits her teeth, feeling the blade sink into her shoulder. She twists, using the momentum to disarm Blake with a sharp elbow strike to her wrist. The blade clatters to the ground, and the Hunter grabs Blake by the collar, tossing her aside.

Hunter: "You all fight like you're protecting something precious... that's going to get you hurt."

She presses a button on her wrist, releasing a burst of smoke from her suit, obscuring her movements. Blake stumbles back, coughing, as Yang rushes forward, fists glowing with her fiery aura.

Yang: "You don't get to lecture us, you maniac!"

The Hunter barely manages to block Yang's devastating punch with her armored gauntlet. The force sends her skidding back. With a growl, she reaches for a device on her belt and throws it to the ground. A concussive blast erupts, knocking Yang off balance.

Hunter: "Keep chasing, and you'll lose more than you already have."

She activates her jetpack again, shooting upward, only to find Weiss leaping into the air with her rapier ready. Glyphs of ice form around her, launching her higher than the Hunter anticipated.

Weiss: "You're not getting away that easily!"

The Hunter narrows her eyes and fires another round of gas-filled projectiles. Weiss deflects them with a glyph, but the brief distraction gives the Hunter time to dart to the side. Before she can escape fully, a shadowy figure darts from the smoke below-it's Blake, now wielding dual daggers.

Blake: "You're not the only one who can vanish into the smoke!"

The Hunter barely manages to dodge as Blake slashes at her jetpack, sparks flying. The damaged thrusters sputter, sending the Hunter crashing to the ground with a heavy thud.

Yang: "Nice one, Blake!"

The team surrounds the Hunter, weapons ready, though their expressions show fatigue. The Hunter, kneeling and breathing heavily, looks around at her opponents. Her visor flickers, and for a brief moment, her face is visible-a grimace of frustration and resolve.

Hunter: "You think this is the end? I was paid to do a job."

Yang steps closer, her fists lighting up again.

Yang: "Yeah? Well, your payday just got canceled."

Before the Hunter can respond, the sound of engines roaring in the distance interrupts the moment. A sleek hovercraft appears, its spotlight focused on the scene.

Voice from Hovercraft: "Hunter! Fall back now!"

The Hunter smirks under her visor.

Hunter: "Saved by the bell."

Y/N's captor injects him with this small syringe, taking what looks like a sample of his blood. She throws down another smoke bomb, and when the smoke clears, she's gone-along with the hovercraft. The group looks around, frustration evident on their faces.

Yang: "Damn it! She got away again!"

Ruby, now stirring from the gas's effects, groans and sits up, looking at her teammates.

Ruby: "What... what happened? Did we get her?"

Weiss shakes her head, lowering her weapon.

Weiss: "No, but we will. Next time, she won't be so lucky."

Blake picks up the dagger she'd lost earlier, gripping it tightly.

Blake: "Now that she's gone, we need to get Y/N somewhere safe. Come on, Yang, help me get him..."

The team nods in silent agreement, Yang helping Blake pick up Y/N and taking him away from this battleground towards their dorms so he can rest.
