Dust jolted awake. The wind was howling outside. A few clouds loomed over the moon, preventing light from entering his room. His door creaked open slowly, a shadowed figure being in the doorway. It had a single piercing red eye. There were more figures behind him, it seemed.
Dust didn't move. His breathing stopped for a moment.

The figure moved closer into the room, closing the door behind itself. It was large and had sharp claws. The creature even had sharp canines. It only shifted closer and closer to Dust, soon leaving him with no more space to move back into. Dust was up against the wall, hugging himself tightly and looking down. He began hyperventilating as tears threatened to fall from his eyesockets.

More shadowed figures filled the room, all closing in on him. A voice called out to him, but he tuned it out from the sheer amount of fear he was feeling. He sat up wide-eyed while the creature with a piercing red eye got closer. Its mouth was moving. It was going to swallow Dust. This was his last day. He can't make it out alive. The other figures around the room mocked him, taunting him loudly.

All until the clouds that covered the moonlight disappeared. The light found its way into the room, revealing that the other figures around the room were not real. All of them had disappeared except for the one with the big single red eye.

"Dust."

It called his name. The thing knew his name. He was cornered and helpless, not being able to do anything. He couldn't think enough to use his magic. His thoughts were engulfed in his hallucinations that he couldn't tell them apart from the reality he lives in anymore.

The moon's light fell onto the figure with the red eye. They had a jacket similar to Dust's on.. Only the hood was fluffy.

"Horror..?"
Dust calmed down. He stopped tensing up and let himself breathe.

"Hey, Dust. I was hearin' some sounds come from yer room. You alright, bud?"
Horror sat on the edge of Dust's bed.

"I'm fine."
He turned away from Horror's gaze and adjusted his hood. The hood only fell over his head even more, covering the top half of his head now.

Horror sat there in silence for a few moments. He was stumped and knew that Dust wouldn't just open up easily.

Dust grabbed his pillow and hugged it.

The sounds of Horror's faint breathing calmed Dust. He matched his breathing with Horror's in order to calm himself even further.

Moments pass by. A minute, an hour, maybe even a few. Horror tapped his fingers on the bedsheets and shifted his gaze upon Dust's.

Dust wasn't sure how to respond. It was as if they were exchanging words in silence or perhaps more like exchanging looks of understandment.

"Go on. I'm listening, Dust."
Horror smiled. His smile might have been creepy to others, but Dust found nothing wrong with it. He loved his unique smile.

Dust mumbled at first, not being used to his own voice. Not after the amount of silence.
"mmf hamfng nifmaresh."

Horror only leaned in closer to hear him better.

"I'm having nightmare's."
He repeated.

"D'you wanna tell me about it? You don't need to."

"It's fine."
Dust broke off the eye contact and stared back down at his jacket.

Horror moved closer to Dust. He was now sitting across from him and completely on the bed.

"Dust. Look at me."
His voice was laced with a demanding-like tone.

Dust's eye lights glared at Horror. The multi-colored pupils could easily put anybody into a trance. His head didn't move to look at Horror. Only his eye lights did.

"What." His own tone was dull and hollow.

Horror let out an audible sigh.
"I know we're in a pretty bad situation and all of that, but that doesn't mean ya gotta neglect your feelings."

"Feelings my ass. We're a murderous group of skeletons."
Dust scowled, fiddling with his hoodie strings.

Suddenly, time stopped. Dust didn't dare look back up. He heard a whisper behind him.
"Look at his poor posture. Why value feelings? It's weak. He's free XP. Kill him while you still have the chance, brother."
A familiar hand was on his shoulder now.

Dust glanced back at Horror. Horror was saying something, but it was all tuned out by the other.

In Dust's eyes, he saw a skeleton with worry for him. The way Horror smiled calmed him to a certain degree, his attention being focused on Dust. Horror's unique features made him feel at ease as well because he knew how to identify him easily.
He would never admit it, but Horror made him feel safe.

"No.. I can't do it. I refuse to."
He said out loud.

Horror cocked his head to the side.
"Can't do what? I just asked if you were alright. You kind of spaced out."

Dust snapped out of it, shaking his head.
"Nothing. I'm just - Will you believe what I say?"

"I don't know, Dust. Tell me and I'll tell ya what I think."

"I can see my papyrus, but I killed him. He's.. He's still here."

Horror nodded, taking in all of the information being revealed to him.
"

I believe ya, Dust. How about we go on a picnic tomorrow? Ya know, just you and me."

Dust shook his head.
"I'm alright."

"..Mm. Okay."
Horror sighed and crawled over to Dust. He pulled Dust into a light hug. One of his arms was wrapped behind Dust's back while the other was behind his head.

Dust froze.
He wasn't used to this. It's been so long since he's felt any type of physical affection, but he put his arms around Horror nonetheless.
A few tears began welling up in his eye sockets.

"Let it out. I'm here for ya, bud."
Horror pat his back softly and let Dust cry into his chest.

Dust didn't say anything. He just hugged tighter and buried his head into Horror's chest.

Horror smiled, letting Dust get comfortable. He was happy to let Dust grow more comfortable in his presence.
