The Queen's Mystery

Last Day Before Classes

The next morning at breakfast Isabella sat with her two best friends. Both Pandora and Regulus sat across from her at the Ravenclaw table. Isabella was watching everyone enter waiting for the tables to fill up. Once people stopped trickling in Isabella flicked her wand closing the doors. Everyone looked up in surprise and confusion. First the Slytherin table was covered in pies that had been dropped, then Gryffindors were covered in water and soap, next the Ravenclaw table changed to hot pink and everyone's clothes at that table were changed to neon orange, and finally the Hufflepuff's were covered in the food flying all over their table. As the water and soap seemed to come off the Gryffindors it showed how the soap changed the color over every kid's hair to red or gold.

Once it all calmed the hall burst into a mixture of laughter and groans. The teachers rushed to different tables trying to help. When the doors reopened most people flooded out to shower or change. Isabella smiled to herself as she turned to her friends.

"That has to be the work of The Queen," Regulus said.

"She's quite powerful for a non graduated witch." Pandora smiled slightly.

"I wonder how she learns all these spells," Isabella rested her arms on the pink table. "We haven't learned half of those spells.

As the marauders left the Great hall, James' ear was caught by the sound of laughter. He looked in curiosity at the three of them as he walked past.

"What a weird group." He said to the others.

"Who are you talking about?' Sirius asked.

"Your brother, Pandora, and Campbell." James pointed behind him.

"Are they friends?" Sirius looked past James.

"Looks like it," Remus shrugged.

"How do you think they became friends?" Peter asked as they walked across the grass.

"Who cares!" Remus yelled, ending the conversation.

"Who cares!" Regulus, Pandora, and Isabella turned to see the Marauders in the distance.

"Wonder what they were talking about." Regulus said.

After a second of walking Isabella blurted, "What's up with Potter?"

"James?" Pandora asked.

"Yeah, what's his deal?" Isabella looked towards the Marauders.

"Well," Regulus sighed. "His dad made some hair gel, not quite sure, but it made his family rich. He's best friends with Sirius, a Gryffindor, a Marauder, and has been pining after Lily Evans since his first year."

"That's basically the gist," Pandora said as she twirled in front of the other two.

"Why the sudden interest, Iz?" Regulus playfully shoved her with his shoulder.

"Don't know." She shrugged. I had to share a carriage ride with them and he kept looking over at me."

"Weird." Regulus said.

"Reg," Pandora said as they sat on the edge of the lake. "How come you know so much about James?"

"When Sirius came back over the summer after his first year we would sit up at night and he'd tell me stories of his time here."

Regulus and Pandora were the year below Isabella but she didn't mind. She met them on the train the year before and they just kept hanging out.

The three sat there for a while just talking and laughing trying to salvage their time before classes started the next day. As they sat there Isabella swore she heard a twig snap but she didn't see anything there.

"So," Regulus was saying when she zoned back in, "I was thinking we could meet up after last class on friday afternoons and work on all our homework in the library."

"Oh I can't Fridays." Pandora said. "Those are our yoga days, Isabella."

"Oh yes." She nodded. "I can do Thursday afternoons."

"I can't." Regulus said. "I've got quidditch practice."

"What about Friday nights after dinner?" Pandora suggested as she twisted her hair.

"Works for me." Isabella nodded, and Regulus shrugged.

As they got up Isabella felt something hit her head. She looked around and saw none other than James Potter himself standing where they had just sat.

"I left my book," Isabella told the others.

She walked over to him and looked at him confused.

"What?" James smirked.
