Hero walked along the shore of the beach, sand crunching beneath his claws. Hero rarely ever went out alone, but something had called him tonight. He had heard warnings of a beautiful song, called a Siren's Song, that lures people in. One should be careful with a siren. They're very mischievous creatures. Hero wanted to ignore it, but the song was far to powerful to ignore. The smell of the ocean and the soft glow of the moon and stars only induced him more into the trance-like state.

After a few more minutes of waking, he finally finds the source of the song. A girl who looked around his age was sitting on the sand, happily humming out a tune that sounded like a waltz. Her song stops softly, and she pats the ground next to her. "You can come sit next to me, you know." Her words were inviting, soothing and calm. Hero knew it was dangerous but he was half-dragon, he could put up a fight. He cautiously got closer, then once deciding it was safe enough, sat down next to the siren. They both sat in silence for a while, watching the small waves of the ocean crash against the sand.

"So....what's your name?" Hero asked, nervously fluttering his wings and flicking sand with his hands. He still wasn't sure if she could be trusted. Mari let out a soft giggle. "Don't need to be so cautious, dragon boy. The sirens who live here are nicer, they're more tamed, I guess. My name is Mari, what's yours?" She looks at the dracotaur's face, examining his features. He looks so....perfect. His face has this charm that she can't quite explain.

Hero looked a little embarrassed that she noticed he was suspicious of her. "I....er...Sorry for assuming things..." He looks away bashfully, still feeling slightly embarrassed. Mari only suppressed a smirk as she saw this. "But my name is Henry. It's nice to meet you Mari." Hero quickly looks back at Mari and holds out his hand. Mari returns the favor. Hero looks back at the sky and his face turns into one of realization. "Oh god...oh lord..." He mutters to himself. "Sorry Mari but I should really get going, my folks are going to kill me if they find out I snuck out."

He starts to get up turns around, before Mari grabs his arm. "Wait! Do you mind if I...come along? My parents won't mind, I'm sure of it!" Hero looks hesitant, but nods his head. "Sure, but how are you gonna..." His sentence is cut short as Mari comes out of the water and her tail turns into legs. "What? Do they not tell people we can have human legs?" She rolls her eyes and walks over to him. "Mind if I....?" Hero nods, and Mari hops onto his back.

Surprisingly, his scales weren't as sharp as she thought they would be. They started to leave when they heard splashing in the water. A head of black hair appeared first, then eyes, then a whole head. Mari looked a little surprised. "Sunny? What are you doing here?" Hero looked at her, confused on who this 'Sunny' was. "Oh, Sunny's my brother." She says, seeing the look on his face. Sunny murmured something incomprehensible. "Sunny? Can you speak louder?" Mari asked, and in response, Sunny walked out of the water and became a black cat.

He climbed on top of Hero and whispered something in Mari's ear. She sighed and held him in her arms. "How...." Hero trailed, astonished. "He and my dad aren't sirens, but they are shapeshifters. That's how they live underwater with us!" Sunny nods his head in affirmation. Mari looks at Hero with pleading eyes. "Can Sunny come with us? Please?" She said in a sing-song voice, her voice dripping with siren power. Hero sighed. "I would've let him come either way, you know..." He mutters as they start to walk away from the beach.
