I don't think that this is my best one. I had to change it so much and almost couldn't get this done for today.

That's how it's been for Maki since she was a kid. Ever since she had completed her training in being an assassin. It had been drilled into her head and she had been working that way without question.
This assignment shouldn't be any different.
There was just one problem.
It was someone that she knew. Someone that she trusted.
Kaito Momota. The former Ultimate Astronaut of Hope's Peak Academy.
Maki had wished that she had cut ties with him when they graduated, but she couldn't keep away. Kaito couldn't keep away from her either. Whenever he had a chance, he'd call or text her. Sometimes they'd meet up, but only when it was convenient for Maki. She tried to keep a far enough distance so that he doesn't get tangled up I her work. The only time that they had stoped talking was when Kaito finally went to space. He was gone for a year and wasn't able to contact anyone on Earth during that time. And even after returning, Maki tried to continue that no contact thing, but that idiot somehow made it back into her life.
And in the worst way imaginable.
Kaito was signed up for the next space program that was scheduled to happen in two years time. And a rival who didn't make it, apparently didn't like it. Maki didn't know all the details, she was only told the basics. She gets rivalry, but to hire an assassin just for being jealous was petty. It was just dumb luck that Maki was the one selected to kill one person that she cared about. She wanted to turn it down, but then the threat of cutting off funding to the orphanage was held over her head. She can't let that go on, but she can't stop it. She just can't. It was an impossible situation to be put in. So, albeit begrudgingly, she accepted the job. She didn't want to kill another person that called her a friend, but she felt like she was backed into a corner. All this blood money was for a good cause every time she did assignments. But even with that in mind, it did little comfort.
Maki felt like this was too easy. She only called Kaito for the first time in over a year and offered to meet. It felt so good to hear his voice, she couldn't deny that. The warmth and trust that was felt through the phone was beyond comforting. It made all of the troubles that Maki had fade away. Well, almost all of her troubles. She can't shake off that shadow that was lingering over her. She was going to miss his voice and light so much. She arranged to meet up with Kaito. Nothing fancy, just an outing. She had so many opportunities to kill Kaito but every time he smiled or spoke or called her "Maki Roll" or even held her hand, she faltered. She couldn't bring herself to kill him at all. She didn't even tell him that she was still an assassin.
She had one more shot to kill him. Kaito surprised her by taking her back to his apartment. She wanted to decline, to back out, but then she remembered why she was doing this. She went into the apartment. She sat with Kaito, having tea. They were talking about the old days and what they have been up to. However, Maki only gave short vague answers. Some were true, others weren't. They didn't do anything that was drastic or rushed, just catching up. When it got dark, Kaito had suddenly got excited. He just got up, grabbed his keys and dragged Maki upstairs. They reached the roof, overlooking the city below.
