THE GLADE IS WHAT THEY CALLED IT, it is their only sanctuary they know of, close to they call home, it is where they eat, sleep and work. The Glade is surrounded by four towering stone walls and behind the massive walls is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It is their only way out and they had yet to solve.
FOR NEARLY THREE YEARS, A FEW DOZEN OF BOYS, they call themselves 'the Gladers' have been searching for a way out of the maze, and that was their main goal. Every once a month, a new boy is brought up in a lift, all going through the same; which was waking up in the Box, with empty memories but their names and attempt to adjust their new life in the Glade.
"NO ONE'S EVER MADE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT IN THE MAZE", the Glade locks down at sundown and reopens at sunrise, if they're locked out of the Glade, they're already dead.
OSCAR IS ENIGMATIC AS THE MAZE, EVEN IN THE GLADE, he is different from the Gladers because unlike them, he didn't arrive in the Box, he was found unconscious in the maze by the Runners. Oscar is different because he was left with more than a name, but unfamiliar faces haunting him in his dreams, voices in his head following him almost daily and he knows their days in the Glade are numbered. He knows something big is going to happen any day and he anticipates whatever it is that's about to happen.
