*Charles*

I had not cared about anything. Then I just did not drive this race. I had also not let anyone discuss this with me.

Seb had come, completely dissolved, to me, when he had called the police back. Evi had been arrested. That was enough for me. I had immediately called Lorenzo to get Evi out of jail and to take care of Aly, while I immediately headed back. Seb had flown with me. He was worried about his sister and I could understand that only too well, because I really couldn't imagine why Evi had been arrested.

Whatever had happened must have been really serious.

The flight had seemed interminably long. We had flown halfway around the world and I had really slept a little in the meantime, even though I had actually been much too tense. But the day had been long and as long as we had been on the plane, I hadn't been able to do anything anyway.

Evi and Aly were well taken care of anyway, because Lorenzo was with them and I trusted him. He would take care of them.

Nevertheless, I was relieved when we finally landed.

The relief was quickly gone, though, when I saw that Lorenzo had been calling me a hell of a lot.

Fuck, that couldn't mean anything good. But we'd be home in 10 minutes anyway. Until then, Lorenzo and the problems that were most certainly waiting for me could just wait. Even though I was really nervous.

Seb was also more than just tense. He hadn't talked the whole flight and even now he was tensing his jaw so much that it was sticking out white. I had never seen him like this before.  He hadn't hesitated for a moment to come here and I had to admit that I sometimes forgot how close Seb and Evi were.

Back then, before we had been together for the first time, the two had been virtually inseparable. She had always been at his side. And even when we were together for the first time, she had been with him a lot. They loved spending time together.

But the last few weeks had been so much that they hadn't seen each other at all, and I was really sorry that I was the one standing in the way. I would make sure that they would definitely see each other more once I had cleared up whatever was ahead of us again now.

I drove us both back to the house. It was early in the morning.

Besides Lorenzo's car, Mom's car was also parked in the driveway. I parked my car next to it and then got out.

I really loved this house. It was a beautiful house that was becoming more and more our home. A place where we were safe because nothing had happened since Greece and we had been really safe here. And yet now, looking at our house, I somehow had a strange feeling.

Seb followed me, again wordlessly. He didn't even know our house yet.

I unlocked the door for us and an incredible silence immediately surrounded me. It was much too quiet.

I put my suitcase down and felt like the sounds were coming back from all the walls. Then I could hear someone moving around in the living room. It took a moment, then Evi was standing in the doorway.

She immediately burst into tears.

"Charly." she sobbed, I was immediately with her and pulled her into my arms. My heart contracted convulsively while my blood froze in my veins.

She immediately fell against me, crying even more heartbreakingly.

"What's wrong?", I asked anxiously.

But this question just seemed to tear her apart. She cried even harder while I tried to keep her upright. Seb took a step toward us and put his hand on his sister's back.
