“Hinata!!!” Kiba’s voice could be heard from miles away. “You bastard!”
Kiba was about to run after Hinata, when one of the mud dolls blocked his way. A laugh was suddenly heard. Kiba and Shino immediately turned to the source of that laugh, the man then said in a mocking tone, “Well, that’s one down.”
Upon hearing those words, Kiba became engulfed in rage and was more than ready to jump at him when all of a sudden, Shino put his hand in front of Kiba, halting him. At first, Kiba seemed confused, but after looking at Shino’s face, he instantly knew the meaning behind that expression. It’s a given thing for someone who had spent years fighting alongside each other. Kiba smiled and looked at the man standing not far away from him.
“Hmph! Underestimating us again, aren’t you?” sneered Kiba.
“Well, I’ll give you a point for taking down all my minions.” The man paused for a second before smiling smugly, “But! It won’t change the fact that both of you will die here and I’ll be coming for that old brat!”
“So your target really is the eldest son of the Hosokaya house. Hah! And here I thought you’re just some random group of bandits.” Kiba wasn’t sure if what he just said would provoke him, but he gave it a shot anyway.
The once proud man became irked by those words. “Don’t compare a group of bandits with mercenaries. We don’t steal! We go wherever there's good pay and this time, we were paid well by their youngest son!”
As the man raised his hand and was about to send the mud dolls forward, he was shocked with the sudden lack of chakra his mud dolls had. ‘What’s this?!’ The man thought deeply and started observing the two Konoha shinobi. None of them weaved hand seals or performed any jutsus. His mud dolls gradually became weaker and suddenly, their bodies started to fall apart. “What is this?!” the man yelled in frustration.
“What you're seeing now is your mud dolls deforming, that’s because my insects are now inside of those things, devouring their chakra.” Shino stated while adjusting his glasses.
“What?! How’d they get in?! They won’t even survive inside the mud!”
“While Kiba was distracting you, I had extra time to order my insects into your mud dolls. You’re probably wondering how my insects can survive inside the mud, that’s because my insects are special. They can adapt to their surroundings even at a short time span and once they do, they’ll devour any chakra,” explained the shinobi from the Aburame clan.
“Impossible!”
The man clearly was drained of chakra. He had performed his most powerful jutsus a number of times and so far, no one had ever been able to escape his mud dolls jutsu. Feeling tricked and enraged, he ran toward Shino and was about to throw a punch when suddenly, a woman with indigo hair showed up in front of him and stared at him intensely with her lavender eyes. A strike to the stomach and he was out cold. Hinata had hit his chakra point and closed it.
“Hinata!” Kiba ran toward her and asked, “Are you okay?!”
“Mm, I’m alright, Kiba-kun.” Hinata replied with a smile, not sure if it was the right time to mention the most recent incident. “He won’t be waking up for at least a day,” she said while looking at the man she had just knocked out.
“Well then, what are we going to do with these guys?” Kiba wondered while scratching his head. All of them stared at the pile of bodies they had just taken down and sighed all together. They knew they couldn’t just leave them there, so they decided to carry them further into the woods and tied them to the trees.
“Now, we need to find Hisao.” Shino immediately reminded them of their first responsibility once everyone was tied up.
“Alright! Hinata, if you’re exhausted, Akamaru and I can track them down!” Kiba said with a big smile while pointing at his nose and Akamaru barked in agreement, assuring Hinata.
