Backstory:
Zip was born a soldier. She'd train with the other Fuzzed Octolings/Octarians every day. She ended up getting lost someday while on patrol. The Octoling ended up going through the grates that lead to the Splatlands! An Inkling called Iro and an Octoling called Bombers found her lost, wandering the streets. The two became friends with her and helped her find the way back. But by the time they did, Zip preferred to stay in the Splatlands with her new friends!
