~~ Skye's POV ~~

Asher and I had talked all night about everything that he had done since High School had ended. He had flown to the Dominican Republic and helped out a bit there, he volunteered at several animal shelters, and had helped underprivileged children learn how to read and write. I was absolutely amazed. Asher had definitely changed and his new girlfriend, Freddi, seemed to be as nice as him. I was so happy for him.

"So anyways, what have you been doing?" he asked. I didn't really want to answer that question, since I haven't been doing anything interesting like him but, I answered anyways.

"Alli and I got our own apartment, as you already know, and I met a really amazing guy," as I got those words out, my phone started ringing. I looked at the caller ID and "Oliver" was in big letters.

"Aaaand, here he is, calling me now. I'll be right back." I walked out of the restaurant and answered my phone, "Hey babe. How is everything?" I asked.

"Good, good. Everything's going great! I um.. heard you were out with a new.. friend?" He asked, sounding worried. "Yeah, Asher! He's an old friend, sort of. But, don't worry, he has a girlfriend and I love you." I said, trying to assure him that nothing was going to happen between Asher and I.

"I know, babe, I trust you. Okay well, I've got to go. Going onstage in 30 minutes. I love you so much baby." "I love you, too!" I smiled as I heard the phone click off.

When I got back inside, I sat down and put money in the checkbook the waiter had given us. "We should totally hang out again but, me and Ashie have to get going!" Freddi said. I didn't like when she called him Ashie. She made it sound like he was a little kid. Asher and Freddi left and Alli and I went back to our apartment.

When we finally got back to the apartment, Alli started grilling me again about Asher. She was convinced that something had happened and kept telling me not to do anything stupid with him. I started to get really annoyed and ended up rolling my eyes walking away from her when she made the comment, "Asher doesn't even come close to Oliver and you need to remember that."

Making my way into my room, I shut the door and plopped down on my bed. How could Alli really think that I wanted anything more than friendship with Asher? He was with Freddi and I was with Oliver and I have no romantic feelings for him anymore. I started to think back to how he treated me in my first year of college and how well he treated Freddi in comparison. Maybe I was still hurt by what he did to me. Maybe all I wanted was an actual apology from him and not just him glossing over what he did and trying to be friends again. It's not like physical and emotional abuse was something I could just forget and move on from, no matter how much I wanted to. I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Alli knock on my door.

"Come in, I guess." She slowly opened the door and stood in the doorway, not steeping foot into my room.

"Look, can we talk about this, please?" She clasped her hands together like she was praying.

"Fine, have a seat." I patted the spot next to me on the bed. She made her way to my bed and sat with her legs crossed, facing me.

"Skye, I love you. Nothing I said about you being close again with Asher was meant to hurt you and I'm truly sorry if it did. But, this is Asher we're talking about. Why is he even back here in the first place?" She crossed her arms. I hated when she did that. It always made her look so judgmental.

"Well, if you must know, he told me he was back in town because there was an animal shelter he was working with. He's helping them put on a dog show to try and get some of the dogs who have been in the shelter for a long time get adopted out."
