Have you ever miraculously escaped death? Throughout their life, people may encounter it several times. More often than not, people just live without having to fight for their lives. This is not about me, however.

Death has often accompanied me throughout my life. It was always somewhere near me. At times, I even thought that I was destined to die. We are all mortal and our time will end someday. But I saw the face of death, I was close to it, and this happened more than once.

After all that I have lived through, sometimes I wondered if I should start celebrating my miraculous salvation as my second birthday. So I thought until the second incident happened to me. It was then that I felt the breath of death as close as ever.

I remember that in my childhood my parents used to know one man. Unfortunately, I forgot his name. Maybe Bob or Sam, I know his name was short and simple, let it be Sam. This Mr. Sam invited my parents to his birthday, and after a while, he celebrated his birth again, also not forgetting to invite my parents. Although I was only five years old, it surprised me a lot. How is this possible? A person cannot be born twice. My parents then explained to me that some people who miraculously survived and escaped death often celebrate two birthdays. Because for them, salvation becomes a significant event in their life. Then I asked my parents what exactly happened to that mister. They never answered me. I do not know his story and I cannot tell it, but I will try to tell my own.

I was twenty-one years old when it happened for the first time. I worked in an online store selling wholesale car parts. I had a wonderful job back then, flexible working hours allowed me to live my life, go about my business.

I remember very well how that day began. I walked down the street, everything was blooming, the air was fragrant with different aromas of flowers – spring, in a word. I was in a great mood, I was expecting a call from an important client (he wanted to place a large wholesale order, and I got a percentage from every deal).

I stopped in front of a pedestrian crossing, with a red traffic light ahead. My cell phone rang. I thought it great that the traffic light turned red, I could safely answer the call. This was important to me. At that moment, I did not even have time to get my phone out of my bag. It all happened instantly. After flying over the hood of the car from a strong impact and hitting the windshield, I found myself on the asphalt. The driver did not even get out of the car, he backed up and drove away as if nothing had happened. Passers-by instantly surrounded me, everyone looked at me in bewilderment, they tried to understand whether I was still alive. People quickly got their bearings, they called an ambulance, which was not long in coming. When I woke up, I was already in the hospital.

As it turned out later, the driver who hit me was drunk. His wife left him and went with their child to another country. Realizing that he would never see his three-year-old daughter again, the driver got drunk in a bar and got behind the wheel. When the collision happened, he was distracted by a bottle of beer that slipped out of his hand and spilled inside the car.

The driver didn't even know he had run over me until he got the subpoena. It's not hard to guess that I won the case. But I didn't care, because I didn't even know it. My parents and older sister won the case while I was in a coma.

It's so strange because I don't remember anything, not even how I was hit. The last thing I distinctly remember was looking for my phone in the bag, and then two weeks of my life seemed to be gone. According to my parents, my heart had stopped and I was resuscitated. And that's how a saying "a brush with death" turned into a real experience for me. Only those who have encountered this "brush" know how terrible these words are.

The weather greatly affects our mood. How great would it be if the weather was always nice, but that's not how it works. The question is how we should treat it. Humans are such creatures that are constantly dissatisfied with something. It's too hot in the summer. Winter comes – it's way too cold. In the spring, they want summer to come faster and so on. Although it's not true for everyone.
