When I opened my heavy eyelids, passion was sitting across from me. I was surprised by its presence, but then it began to change and transformed into the shape of Mia. That's when I realized that from now on, it would always remain in that form for me, because it was true love.
"Now I understand the difference between passion and love," I whispered. Love nodded at me and dissolved. I felt that it would always be by my side, just like fate and Mia.
I turned around, wanting to embrace Mia, but I didn't find her next to me. It scared me a lot. I was afraid that she had left me forever against her will, and I thought that after her death, they took her away from me and sent her to another place where we wouldn't be together anymore. I got up from the ground and started looking for her on my island. It didn't take long before Mia appeared next to me. She came to me like an angel from heaven.
"I lost you. Where were you?" I asked anxiously.
"You'll find out soon. Fly with me," she replied, extending her hand to me. "I want to show you a special place."
We flew towards an unusual place. A round lake, sparkling like silver, spread out beneath us. Despite the all-consuming darkness, we were surrounded by glittering stars. It was amazing. I felt a cosmic calm and tranquility within myself. This place was not where others could go. It was our small world. I had never seen anything like it before. I had never seen stars or the lake itself. Hell was capable of surprising.
Descending into the weightlessness that surrounded us, we stepped onto the smooth surface of the white water. Water rings appeared beneath our feet. The lake sparkled like a magical fireworks display, as if the waves were made of shimmering particles.
Above us hung a cloud, and from it slowly descended a large swing for two. The swings were soft, with armrests and backrests, held up by semi-transparent golden cables.
"I wanted to surprise you," Mia said, sitting on the swing and gesturing for me to join her. "I thought about what could make you happy and found this place. Do you like it?"
"It's magnificent. Incredible, like you," I said, sitting down next to her.
The splash of water at our feet did not drown out the frequent beating of our hearts, filled with the magic of the moment. (We are dead and our hearts do not beat. But when I am with her, I can swear that I feel the blood circulating through me again, that my heart is pounding so hard I can hear the ringing in my ears. Next to her, I come alive.) Silent understanding brought our souls together at an incredible speed. Sitting shoulder to shoulder, we watched the twinkling surroundings. Occasionally, we turned to each other to look into each other's eyes.
"How is this possible in hell? Where did this paradise come from? Aren't people supposed to suffer and work off their punishments here?" I couldn't hide my emotions.
"Because this is paradise."
Her presence and lovely radiant smile relentlessly burned everything inside me. She was only a few inches away, playfully touching the surface of the water with the tips of her toes. Mia had no idea what her innocent, sensual look and the blush of embarrassment on her cheeks were doing to me.
Touching the cool, soft skin of the girl awakened a flash of new, very unusual sensations in me. Excitement spread through my body in prickly yet pleasant impulses under her gaze. Next to her, I was truly happy.
Her long, perfectly straight hair covered her bare shoulders like a shimmering silk fabric and descended almost to her waist. Her always pale skin now appeared absolutely snow-white. Mia looked impeccable and knew it, although she felt a slight involuntary embarrassment inside.
