After 3 days of travel Arthur and his entourage arrived at the location of his territory.

Arthur's territory is at the intersection of two other noble territories and across the Sein river which defines the borders of Arthur and two other nobles territories.

[sketch of the location]

Seeing that there was a hill overlooking the river intersection Arthur decided to place a fort on it and when he had more gold coins upgrade it to a castle as it is a very defensible location.

After the fort was down everyone moved in to the fort while Arthur planned his next move.

[current gold coins = 308]

10 plows, 50 gold
10 farmer, 1 gold
10 cows, 10 gold
200 acres seed, 200 gold (bread seed)
2 months food, 2 gold

Total cost: 263 gold
[Current Gold Coins: 45]

Arthur had a distressed expression looking at the 200 gold coins in seeds but it was something he had to do.

Those seeds mature in 3 months and 2 acres is enough to feed a person for a year. Besides that every harvest can generate another acre worth of seeds so no need to worry about seeds in the future.

Based on what the system said every acre planted of those seeds produce enough food to recycle back to the system 1 gold coin, this means every acre planted is permanent passive income for him.

After making up his mind he summoned everyone and looked at the farmers in front of him and started explaining to them their jobs.

"I am the lord Arthur, I have brought you here to farm for me but I will make sure you can live a good life with me."

Arthur then pointed to boxes filled with seeds,
"These are bread seeds, I only have 200 acres worth of seeds for this first harvest so each of you will plant 20 acres of this."

The farmers nodded along with the lords words, they couldn't say anything about other stuff but farming they are good at.

"Because this is the first harvest you all get to keep 4 acres of these bread seeds and in the future you will pay half of the yield of these bread fruits back to me and can keep the excess.

A person only needs 2 acres worth of bread fruit to live off of so no need to worry you can't fill your stomachs.

After some more gold coins are made I will build houses for you to live in but for now you may stay in the fort."

After saying this Arthur let the farmers get to work.

In actuality a farmer can manage 40 acres by himself with a plow and a cow but the gold coins cant keep up for seeds.

————————————————————————
In a flash 1 year has passed making Arthur 13 years old, here is the year end summary:

After 3 months Arthur got 160 gold coins from the bread fruits and the farmers each started farming 40 acres instead of 20.

[Current Gold Coins = 202]

Seeing that he didn't need to rebuy seeds Arthur doubled his farmers once again and from now on they would start with the 50% tax model.

10 plows, 50 gold
10 farmer, 1 gold
10 cows, 10 gold
3 months food, 3 gold

Total Cost: 64 gold
[Current Gold Coins = 138]

At the end of 6 months Arthur got 400 gold worth of bread fruits.

[Current Gold Coins = 538]

Arthur again doubled his farmers this time for the final harvest of the year as winter is coming and can not be planted to much success.

20 plows, 100 gold
20 farmer, 2 gold
20 cows, 20 gold
3 months food, 3 gold

Total Cost: 125 gold
[Current Gold Coins = 413]

Finally on the last harvest Arthur got 800 gold coins in tax and he heard that the farmers spontaneously started selling their bread fruits to the neighboring territories as even though breadfruits stay good for a long time they were burdened by the overwhelming amount they saved up.

Arthur ended up talking with them and all the farmers decided to only keep 4 acres a year after realizing it was better to sell the excess to the lord instead of being swamped in breadfruits.

Arthur gave them a 10 acres of breadfruit for 1 gold coin deal which they were happy about as they can make 11.6 gold coins per year in the second year which is over 10x the average annual income of a farmer.

Taking all the excess 600 acres of breadfruit, 200 from second harvest and 400 from the 3rd harvest Arthur paid the farmers 60 gold coins total and they divided it by work done.

Arthur backhand sold it to the system and made an extra 540 gold coins.

[Current Gold Coins = 1753]

In the second year after startup costs are no longer in the equation a single farmer can produce 116 gold coins after subtracting the 4 acres of breadfruit.

Therefore his 40 farmers can make him 4640 gold coins in profit per year in their second year of farming and beyond or for every 40 first year farmers he makes 4387 gold coins after deducting start up costs.

This is based on full seed coverage and the farmers doing all 3 harvests.

This is a bit mind boggling as the average viscount only makes around 1000 gold coins a year.

Total Population:
40 Farmers
10 Veteran Soldiers
4 Knights
1 Aura Knight
1 Maid
1 HouseKeeper

————————————————————————

Arthur finished writing this year end summary and started thinking about something, theoretically since his soldiers and servants are 100% loyal they can work for free but after mulling it over it didn't make much sense.

So Arthur thought of setting a yearly salary from now on to be paid at the end of the year that they can do whatever with.

Veteran Soldiers - 15 gold
Knights - 25 gold
Aura Knights - 40 Gold
Maid - 10 Gold
HouseKeeper - 40 Gold

Overall this costs him 340 gold coins per year but he can still afford this much when he is squeezing out the wool of the farmers.

After handing all the salaries out he saw everyone had real big smiles on their faces making Arthur happy and start to think of city layout now and he can start construction after his second year payout.
