Connor was confused.
It had bothered him all day.
Understanding.
Why? Why did he see that in his eyes?
Connor was hiding in the computer lab when the door opened.
He ducked behind a printer.
"God, your such a loser." He heard the new person whisper to himself.
Evan.
Connor heard the sound of a Windows powering up.
He heard typing
"Dear Evan Hansen-"
He typed for a few more minutes.
Connor jumped.
The printer in front of him powered on and started printing.
Evan was walking over to the exact spot where Connor was hiding.
Oh Shit™.
Connor jumped up from behind the printer.
"HECKING SPRUCE!" Evan turned white and put his arms in front of him like a shield.
Ha. He had scared him shitless.
"Hi" Connor did an awkward little wave.
"H-hi." Evan replied.
Silence.
"How'd you break your arm?" Connor asked, trying to break the awkward silence.
"I-i fell?" He replied nervously.
"Oh." Connor looked closely at his cast. "No one's signed your cast."
Evan gulped and looked down at it.
"You got a sharpie?"
"Pardon me?"
Connor chuckled, "Ill sign it, if you want."
"S-sure?"
Evan grabbed the marker from his pocket and handed it to Connor.
Connor grabbed Evan's cast and scrawled his name in large block letters all over the front of it.
"T-thanks." Evan gulped.
"No problem." Connor said as the smaller boy turned on his heel to leave.
After Evan was gone, Connor grabbed the paper Evan had printed.
As Connor scanned the letter, his eyes got wider and wider.
At the end of the letter, one thing was clear to Connor.
This was a suicide note.
