CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE !
. . . 💋

The internet search for Adrien's address didn't last long. His popularity in this city made sure that hardly anything he did didn't stay a secret, nor his own home address.

Marinette easily pressed the button on Adrien's home security system, the device buzzing as she waited for someone to answer.

"Name?" The box spoke questionably.

Marinette was silent for a moment. Surprised by the amount of protection this house had everywhere you'd look.

"Uh, Marinette Dupain-Cheng," She answered shakily, clasping her hands together behind her back while she waited.

Before she knew it, the front gate was electrically moving open. Marinette looked a bit freaked out while she turned her head back at Alya sitting in the car. Her best friend shrugged from the front seat.

"How helpful," She mumbled to herself, moving up the driving on her way to the overly large double front doors.

She contemplated knocking or just waiting since the security was already alerted that she was there, but once she raised her fist, the front door creaked open, and the women she met a few weeks ago— Nathalie— was standing on the other side with a welcoming smile.

"Marinette," She said, inviting her inside as she moved from blocking the entrance. She lead Marinette through the threshold of the house, with shining floors lit up by sky lights, and continued up the stairs.

They stopped outside of a door that was to the right of the top of the stairs, and came to a whisper, "Adrien is asleep," she said, looking back at the door and twisting the knob. "and he has been upset lately. I hope you can cheer him up."

Marinette nodded with a grateful smile. She walked through his bedroom door, the motion sensitive lamp by his bedside flicked on, and as Nathalie told her, he was asleep, fully clothed with no pajamas, or blanket either. It was like he just came home and passed out from lack of sleep.

The girl eased toward the bed, hoping not to wake the boy once she took a set in the swivel chair by the desk to her left. Marinette noticed how peaceful he looked, and she did feel super creepy for not waking Adrien and watching him while he slept, but he looked like he needed it.

She sighed, turning the chair from where it was angled at his bed, and moving to look at what took up the once empty spaces on the desk. She smiled at the photo of what she assumed was a young Adrien and his mother. The woman in the picture was sitting by the toddler as they were both side by side on a swing set. The photo warmed her heart.
