As we all know, Byzantium was a Christian empire. If you believed in a different God you were an atheist. Because there is only one God that was their God. However many people believed in something different. Something that was not forced on them, something that gave them hope when they did not have the money to pay the high taxes or a piece of bread. We are now in the year 1052, two years before a very important event that will determine the fate of the rest of the now-known world.

It is early in the morning, the sun has just been up. A maiden is walking happily inside the forest looking for ingredients, for one of her potions. Some herbs that will help one of the elderly in her village. The maiden's name is Anastasia.

Anastasia is a witch. She has been practising witchcraft since she was thirteen. It helped her gather money in order to pay for her necessities and taxes. But now she is doing it to help the people who are doomed to die before their time.

Anastasia is not an ordinary witch. She was gifted with great power. The power to see the future. Instead of using it to bring chaos she chose to heal and help the poor. Now she has her own home and garden to provide for herself.

Her gift came with a price. She grew up in a poor family, it was hard for them to service. She and her parents were living in poverty, while the nobles were eating and drinking like there was no tomorrow. So her father decided to do something about it. He became a thief, he stole from the nobles and provided food and water for his family and village.

But all the good things come to an end. when she was thirteen, one night, before dinner, the soldiers came into her home. They broke everything that came to their path. Her mother and she left the house through one of the windows, leaving her father behind. The soldiers quickly cached up with them. They arrested all of them and they were to be executed the next day.

That night, in her filthy, wet dungeon she wished for the moon, to save her in exchange for her loyalty and devotion. The spirits of the night heard her prayer and responded the next day. The next day her father and mother were hanged in front of her eyes. Then it was her time for punishment. However, that time never came.

Assins broke into the castle. She found the perfect opportunity to leave, so she did. She stole a horse and run far away.  From that day she was gifted with the power to see visions, use herbs to heal and manipulate the energy of nature to communicate with the spirits of the earth.

Now it was time for her to return home and prepare the medicine. After her hard work, she admired the final result. She gathered the bottles, her basket and her black cape and left her house. She caused the heavy wooden door behind her and left. She walked out of the forest and followed the stone path leading to the village.
