𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄 people just need to take a break. Like the French for example.
Day in and day out all I'm hearing is something along the lines of 'The French have stolen our shipments' or 'The French are ambushing so and so'.
Just for once I want to hear 'The French have decided to give it a rest.'
I'm really not asking for much.
Over the past few years, the French Mafia has been trying to gain more power than anybody else by stealing resources and infiltrating groups, but thankfully, they've had little success recently. Now, every time there's a congregation between the mafias, they either don't turn up or just act as if they've got no idea why everybody dislikes them.
Either way, I'm sick of it.
Last week, they tried to take our weaponry but were caught in the act, and faced the consequences. Since then nothing has happened.
Somebody else who needs to take a rest is my best friend, Alexis. She's spent the last half an hour trying to convince me only good things can come from a trip to the club. To her it's like a home away from home, all the different bouncer's even know her name.
"We go out, have some fun, meet some hot guys." She negotiates with me. "We don't even have to drink if you don't want to, " she adds thoughtfully.
I smile at her kindness. I know she loves a good drink but she always tries to avoid them when I'm around her, no matter how many times I say it's fine.
"I'll go." She begins to speak again, not registering any of the words I've just said. "I promise - wait, what did you say ?"
"I'll go." I repeat. She jumps off my bed and pulls me with her into a hug. "You've got no idea how excited I am." She squeals, holding me tightly.
"I think I get the gist of it."
"You're going to look so gorgeous in the dresses I bought for you. I have options." She has to stop buying me things.
"Not as gorgeous as you." I tell her but I'm not even sure it registers with her by the way she drags me over to the mirror, with her hands around my hair, face and then body as if I was the model for her fashion line.
Alexis is easily one of the prettiest people I know. Long dark hair, smooth skin, a bright smile and those gorgeous green eyes to go with it. I haven't gone to the club with her in a while but it's hard to forget the way men just gravitate toward her in her presence. My thoughts are interrupted by the clicking of Lexi's neatly manicured fingers across my face.
"Tonight. 9PM. You, me and maybe some hot men too if we find some."
I laugh at her comment. "Sure, priorities." The way she rolls her eyes at my statement makes me think these are her actual priorities and I worry for a second. That's until I remember that there's no need to worry about whether or not her priorities are in check - I know they're not.
