Nowadays, Carter spent his days hanging out with his band members. Whether it's during training or after training. They were practically like family to him just like he is to them. Carter got used to the studio after bumping into walls and tripping over air for some reason. He has the layout of the studio memorized now, only the studio not the entire shop.
It was almost time for the day of the competition, lucky for them, the venue wasn't too far away from Kokomi's and Albert's campus. The competition is to be held at a local auditorium called 'Panggung Budaya'. Literally translated into 'Cultural Theatre' in Malay. Carter had never been there despite living just around the area, he never had a reason to until now.
Carter could tell that Kokomi was delighted to perform at the auditorium. He had been told that her childhood memories were mostly spent there. Kokomi ever only told him about her childhood at the theatre because he had asked her why did she look so nostalgic just looking at the flyer. The flyer contained a picture of the theatre.
Albert, Carter and Kokomi, dub thee 'youngsters' or 'Flat-foot children' by the other adults. Namely, Beyond, Nahida and Simon. 'Creative, I know' Carter thought to himself. Kokomi argued about this though, she protested that she too was an adult. She was treated like a child because of her cute visage and short height, though she wouldn't admit it, she would use that to her advantage sometimes.
The band was supposed to practice today but the weather ended up being a thunderstorm. They wouldn't practice during a thunderstorm because they didn't want their high voltage equipment exploding when a lightning strikes the establishment. The other reason was that everyone felt lazy during a thunderstorm, the cool air from the air conditioning has been upgraded by the rain, making it cool and comfortable. While the other's were taking a nap, reading a novel or just playing some mobile games, Carter and Kokomi were having a hushed conversation on the couch about a serious matter.
"What do you mean you smelled the rain an hour ago?," Carter whispered confusingly.
"I did smell the rain, some people can. When it comes to smelling rain, our noses could beat a shark," Kokomi explained, tapping lightly on her nose.
"What does rain smell like?", Carter asked, leaning back comfortably into the couch.
Kokomi smiled and said "petrichor".
Leaning on the coffee table was Albert who was reading a mystery novel entitled 'Murder on The Orient Express' by Agatha Christie. Albert had been eavesdropping on Kokomi and Carter's conversation for quite a while now. He too wanted to know what the word 'petrichor' meant for he had never came across a word like that before. He shuts his hardcover book and gently placed it on the coffee table, he then got up and sat on the couch right next to Carter.
"What is 'petrichor'?," Albert asked with curiosity.
"It's a word I learnt during one of my lectures, its meant to represent the smell of rain since there's no other smell like it", Kokomi explained further.
She thought for a while on how to describe the scent but then decided that the boys should experience it for themselves. After all, 'experience is the best teacher'.
"Have you ever been outside when it's raining you two?," Kokomi inquired.
They shook their heads innocently as a sign of gesture that they haven't. Kokomi smiled as her grand plan was about to be put into play.
"Hey, Nahida?", Kokomi called out to her friend who was busy playing some games on her smartphone.
Nahida was laying on the floor with her left leg crossed over the other, the smartphone she held was soon placed on the floor beside her. She propped her elbows against the floor to lift her torso up so she could face Kokomi.
