"So where are we heading?," Carter inquired while holding onto his brother's forearm, he raised his voice so Joey could hear him amongst the loud sounds of incoming cars zooming on the road.
They were walking at a fast pace, dodging through incoming pedestrians. The town was rather lively that night, there were many perfect places for those who enjoyed partying. Joey never took Carter out on the streets at night like this before, so it would be his first time outside his neighborhood.
"You'll see, tonight is going to be fun!," Joey reassured him.
"If you say so, by the way, I literally can't see," Carter retorted.
"Stop with the sarcasm. Now come on! We've got to hurry or we'll miss the show," Joey said with enthusiasm.
The two hurried into a brightly lit music store. Carter could feel the light shining on his face. Despite all the colorful lights, his vision was like a shower glass. It wasn't just any music store; it was Santoro's Music Store. The store was filled to the brim with an assortment of records. Albeit classical music, jazz, rock, or even country. Joey walked towards a store employee who was standing next to the staircase of the underground live house. Carter kept a tight grip on his forearm. Joey took out some crumpled tickets from inside his pockets and handed them over to the employee.
"Two admissions, please," Joey gasped out, leaning against his knees for support.
The employee took the tickets politely and escorted them towards the live house.
Joey and Carter took the stairs down into the underground live house and proceeded to take their seats. Carter loosen his grip of Joey's forearm. He turned his head from left to right, taking in the sound of a crowded area. His ears picked up on only small talks and chatter from the crowd around them, as if they're waiting for something to begin.
"Why are we here? Where are we exactly? We're not in some kind of bar, are we? I don't want to be around drunk people," Carter asked worriedly as he shook Joey's shoulder.
"Hey, HEY! Knock it off, will you? You ask too many questions. Just get acquainted with the sound and listen. You'll know what this place is when the show starts," Joey said.
'Show hm? I wonder what kind of 'show' ' Carter thought.
A middle-aged man stood on the stage and tapped on the mic shortly after Joey yanked Carter's grip off his shoulder.
"Good evening, folks, I know you've been waiting a while now. I'd like to introduce you to this week's musicians. Beyond, Kokomi, Simon, and...", the calm gruff voice trailed off.
