Andrew Belle:Sky's Still Blue -  the song Beth sings in this chapter.

Daryl's POV

Waking up to a blinding sun, my first instinct was to check if Beth was ok; she was still strewn across my chest and looked so peaceful. It was almost enough to forget this was the apocalypse.

She tossed around a little and then slowly opened her eyes to look up at me, "Mornin Daryl" she quietly greeted me. Caught off guard from my reviere, I quickly responded "Mornin" while Beth reluctantly started getting out of bed.

"So I think I saw some cans in the kitchen, wanna get some breakfast?" I asked her, "Sure" she responded smiling.

Walking into the kitchen I went over to the cupboard and tried to ignore this mornings thoughts, "Alright Beth we'll just take what we need and well if anyone comes back.... we can work something out" I figured thinking back to her comment about good people.

I rummaged for bit and then brought some cans to the table. Only when I looked over at her did I see the big grin that had spread across her cheerful face. "So you do think there are still good people around" she said.

"What made you change your mind?" This caught me off guard and all I could manage was a simple mumble, "you know" . "Don't just 'you know', what changed your mind?" She pushed, still with that grin on her face.

I was suddenly lost for words. I didn't know what it was; was it spending so much time with her or was I just being naive about reality? I didn't have an answer so I didn't respond. Silently I just stared back, unsure of what had changed me.

"Oh" she simply said in response. I think she understood, hopefully. Neither of us said another word until breakfast was over but once it was it was me who broke the silence. "Hey um wanna get some more sleep?" I knew we needed it and it seemed Beth thought so too;

"Thank goodness I was hopin' you'd say that, I'm exhausted" she replied. We both stumbled back up to bed, surprisingly falling asleep instantly.

5 hours later

"Shit I think we slept longer than -" I cut myself off. She wasn't by my side and the faint sound of a piano came drifting upstairs. Grabbing my crossbow, I ran downstairs and walked into the room where Beth was singing softly:

Your heart is a city,
Your eyes are a fixture.
Your mind tells a story,
Of ten thousand pictures,
We stumbled upon it
Fell through the ceiling.
We drew up a landscape
Carved out a memory, to follow the pattern.....

She turned to face me, "Hey Daryl come on over" she patted the piano seat she was sitting on. "Mm alright" I replied. "That was almost better than last time" I said to her once sitting down.

"Oh thanks Daryl" she replied. "Daryl?" "Mm?" I mumbled

"Do you ever think we will ever see Rick and the group ever again?" The question was sudden and instinct told me no. Even though she was strong enough to handle the truth, I couldn't say those words to her. Saying them out loud would make them seem real and sometimes lying to someone to spare their feelings is ok, isn't it? "Maybe" I mumbled.

Just then two comforting arms wrapped around me. "Daryl?" She asked then. "Yea?" I responded, looking at her; "I'm glad I got stuck with you" she said confidently "Me too" I told her. While the guilt of lying and the comfort of her hug tangled together.

So I hope you all like this chapter ;) So I was wondering; would you all like Beth and Daryl to meet up with the group, soon, farther on or never? I really need your comments on this so please tell me what you all think :) Thank you :)
