"I'm not saying you were wrong to let it bother you, I'm just saying you should have told him" the voice of reason came from your best friend as you sat in the pub.

"Told him what that I couldn't handle a bunch of teenagers online" you rolled your eyes trying to mask the pain of the statement, yes you were mocking it here and now but at night for weeks with Trent you'd obsessed about comments after comments.

"Harassment is Harassment, no matter who's dishing it out." You waved your hand dismissively hoping to quieten her but it was to no avail, your best friend gave you what you needed regardless of how you felt at the time and today called for tough Love.

"Where's my best friend gone, honestly I'm worried about you"

"I'm fine"

"You've cancelled on me far to many times to be fine, you're only here now because I dragged you here" you looked around the local pub, you and Trent had hidden away in a corner here a few times thankful to the staff and punters that didn't bother him.

There it is again and the exceptions that needed to be made for your boyfriend, ex boyfriend

That hurt that, cut like a knife.

"Even now you're not really listening to me. What are you gonna do when I drop you home drink some more"

"More? We've had 1 drink, why's it suddenly a crime to drink at home I'm not feeling very social" you muttered scratching your nail against the old worn table.

"I wouldn't be bothered if you weren't in the head space your were in"

"Jesus I'll be fine." She gave you a hard stare and you broke away to the bar over which was a TV.

"You're not fine, what if Trent walked in here right now what would you do huh?! Would you be honest with him and tell him why your making the both of you miserable?!" You felt sick at the mention of his name at the possibility of him appearing round the door frame at any moment.

"What if he got a girlfriend" you swallowed hard around the heavy lump in your throat.

"I'd be happy for them" she shook her head and reached a hand out across the table to you.

"You can barely talk and I can see the tears in your eyes, it's killing me that you're hurting like this" you had to look away the moment she began talking again knowing that you were on the cusp of tears, you bit your lip to keep them at bay.

"I really like him, I've never seen you happier or more comfortable than when you're with him" you blinked back the tears feeling them on the water line of your eyes.

"You ever think you're hurting him, have you watched a match lately" you swiped aggressively at your eyes an looked up at your friend.

"You know I don't get it, but he's not playing how he was before..."

"Don't do that don't guilt me like that, his performance has nothing to do with us he's a professional athlete he can separate the two."

"You can't turn off your feelings for someone just because they called it off" she was abrupt with you letting go of your hand.

"I'm ready to go home" she shook her head.

"Ian is gonna come meet us, we're gonna get another drink have some lunch and watch the game" her eyes landed back on you as she finished her sentence.

You felt the drop your stomach took, the icy feeling running through your veins you'd avoided every opportunity to see his face you couldn't do it.

"Liverpool are playing?" The words left you in a somewhat daze as your eyes flicked up to the screen you'd spotted before.

"Yeah, Newcastle I think? It's not a problem for you is it!?" You shook your head.

"I'm just gonna nip to the ladies" she nodded and as you got up you saw her boyfriend enter the pub giving you a small wave you smiled back and hurried to the ladies.
