"Are you okay over there?" You couldn't help but smile across the back seat of the taxi at your mum, she nodded looking straight back out the window as anfield came into view.

Laughing to yourself you looked down at the handbag in your lap, your anxiety was mixing with excitement which made the journey a little easier watching your mum light up at the sight of the stadium didn't hurt either.

When your mum had first met Trent it was perfect he was perfect he was the guy you wanted to take home to your mum, you'd never seen him so polite, you'd made remarks and he had side eyed you subtly your mum was to caught up in meeting your new boyfriend to pay you any mind.

Once he had learned she was a fellow red he was delighted and on the next meeting he'd gifted her a scarf, the very scarf she had wrapped around her neck and tucked into her big coat now.

"It's so lovely of him to have thought of me, and you know I can't wait to meet his mum" turning your lips in you suppressed your smile the best you could, the pair together would be a force you were sure having met Trent's mum a few times.

"Trent said you would get on well with Dianne." You noted, opening your bag and checking the contents nervously again as you felt the car come to a stop.

There was a few fans milling around outside but not many, Trent had promised that besides being in his box any other special treatment would be none existent, you just hoped he kept his word.

Stepping out of the cab you linked your mum and walked towards the stadium, your mum squealing like a giddy child you laughed.

"Never in my life time did I think I'd see a match here" you smiled made up that you could share this with her, that Trent had done this for her.

"We don't need to go straight up to the box do you want to do a lap around? See what there is to see?" You asked trying to settle your own nerves brewing deep in your stomach.

"Oh I do" you laughed out loud.

"Mum you're like a kid at Christmas" you were still laughing as she swatted your linked arm.

"Let an old woman enjoy herself" came her reply her eyes scanning around the outside of the ground.

"You're not old" you frowned at her, adjusting the bag on your shoulder.

"Right answer" you smirked and allowed your mum to lead the way around, you had an hour before dianne and the boys were expecting you, but with your mum chomping at the bit and the nerves trying to talk you into staying home you'd booked a cab.

Walking around the club shop with your mum you took a quick picture of her browsing the shirts.

You had spoken to Trent last night as you gave him a last kiss goodbye before he left to go sleep at the hotel with the team, you could see he still had a little doubt as to whether or not you would come today but he didn't push the matter, he wanted you there but he didn't want to put the pressure on and it made you respect him all the more putting your feelings above his own.

That being said you thought it would be a good time to put him out of his misery dropping him a quick text.

I know what you could get your biggest fan for Christmas x

Immediately the dots appeared and before he could reply you sent the photo of your mum shopping.

Your phone began ringing, Trent's face appearing on the screen, glancing around you quickly answered it pointing to your mum that you were on a call she waved you away happily shopping.

"Hey" you held tighter to the strap of your bag as you answered the call.

"Baby do you know how happy you've made me" all of a sudden the butterflies replaced the worry in your stomach, hearing the sincerity in his voice.

"Nobody is happier than my mum right now, thank you" you could hear the smile in his voice.

"Is that the scarf I gave her?" You nodded laughing.

"The very one, I think you maybe her favourite child" he laughed fully then.

You could hear voices in the background, as he spoke up again.

"How are you? You good?" Your chest pulled tight, but you could do this he wasn't asking you to walk the plank.

"I'm okay, seeing mum in her element is distracting me. It's strange to see you everywhere, I feel like..." you paused unsure of what to say.

"Like what?, Abs" you looked across to the giant picture of Trent in the shop seeing men walking around with his name on their back.

"I don't know like being around all these people right now, wearing your shirt like if they knew who I was talking to right now..." you trailed off giggling as your mum held something up you smiled and gave her a thumbs up.

"My sweet, sweet Abbey, are you giddy?" He laughed, as you glanced around once more walking with the few people in the store.

"Maybe. Look I've got to go before mum fills a bag with stuff" Trent laughed in response.

"Tell her to get what she wants" he offered.

"I will not, I'm not walking into your family with her loaded up with merch" you could hear his laugh getting richer.

"You're mean you are" he replied, as you made your way towards her across the store.

"Whatever, have a good game." He could hear the sass in your voice.

"Thanks baby, it means a lot you being here" you couldn't reply the tightness in your voice would give away how emotional you felt right now.

"See you soon" he added when it was apparent you weren't going to speak up.

"Bye T" you hung up the phone dropping it into your handbag as you found your mum.

"Look at this of trent" it was a tiny figure that looked nothing like the scouser you laughed at the poor copy as your mum placed it back down.

"Do you think I should get a woolly hat?" You shook your head with a smile.

"I think you'll be fine, if not I have one in my bag." Your mum nodded reassured by that.

"I'll just get a programme then" she added walking off once more you could barely keep up with her.

"Mum!" You called rushing after her excusing yourself as the shop got busier.

"What love?" You hooked her arm and started guiding her from the shop

"My programme!!" It was comical how childlike she sounded.

"I'm pretty sure T said there would be a complimentary one for us in the box" her smile grew as she followed you out of the shop.
