Chapter 12: Jealousy

"Stop snoring." Jeremy said.
"I'm sorry, my stupid allergies are making me all stuffed up, so deal with it ass face."
"God, you definitely didn't get sleep last night."
"You should know, you are such a light sleeper."
"I know, I always have."
"Then don't complain."
"Why do you always fight me in the morning."
"Cause I'm a grumpy teenager, and it is the morning."
"Ok, you can go back to sleep, you did amazing yesterday, and now neither of us have to go help or to school."
"Yes, wake me up at some point."
"Ok, just sleep."
"I will." I said, falling asleep for the like 4th time.

Unknown POV
I saw her, grown up. Or it was the fact that there was a boy with her that made her look grown up. I missed her, Ann was so small when I saw her last, or I imagined her small. Many things have just been my imagination for a longtime now. I hoped everything was ok for her, she has had to deal with a lot of shit in the past week. I would talk to her soon though hopefully, and that boy maybe.

Ann's POV
I woke up to a very bright light, was I even awake, or was I dying.
"Sorry, I had to turn on at least one light." Ok, well I'm not dead.
"Ok, what time is it?"
"Noon."
"I have slept until noon?"
"Yeah, you only said to wake you up at some-point so I let you sleep for a while."
"Thanks, you are way too nice, I totally don't deserve you." I said.
"No, I don't deserve you,"
"Of course you don't, you deserve so much better than me."
"I do care about you Ann," he said, "to the point that I am almost certain I love you."
"Why would you love someone like me, you could date any girl accept your sister, in our grade."
"I could, but I only want you as my girlfriend."
"I just don't want to hurt you, especially because I almost can say that I am crazy in love with you."
"You just said it."
"No, I was saying that, whatever."
"Haha, you're already giving in, are you feeling ok?"
"Yeah, it's just that I'm hungry."
"True, I think there is food downstairs."
"Let's eat then." I said, then I grabbed his hand and dragged him downstairs. Missy was cleaning the kitchen when we got downstairs.
"Wake up earlier for food, anyways. the dinner dance is tonight."
"Shit, that is tonight."
"Yes, and watch your language please sir."
"Sorry Missy."
"Go away now."
"What's her problem?" I asked when we were back upstairs.
"She's jealous."
"Why?"
"Because she tried to kiss me and I rejected her and not even a day later I came home with you."
"Oh, so she's around our age."
"14"
"Then why is she a maid?"
"Lucy teaches her and she works to pay Lucy."
"Oh."
"Yeah anyways, there's some food in my room if you want any."
"What do you have."
"I'm not sure, come on."
"I don't want to go in your room."
"Why, I've been in yours, and I'm not a slob."
"True, ok fine."
"Ok, so, how has your week been?"
"Shitty, I mean, 2 people are dead and its terrible."
"Yeah, what do you want, actual food or junk food."
"Junk food."
"Ok, popcorn?"
"Yeah, and do you have something do drink."
"I have Gatorade."
"Great, throw it."
"Here."
"Thanks, anyways, another party tonight?"
"Yes, and we have to go around 6:30 so Kate will come home eventually. Probably."
"I know how to do my makeup if she doesn't."
"I know, but it would be nice if she didn't run away every time a hard to deal with thing happens."
"I'm sorry, are you guys close like always friends."
"Sometimes, but sometimes she does this and bails, which is hard."
"Jeremy, I'm so sorry, I wish I knew how you feel, but I don't."
"And I don't want you to, you have already dealt with a lot."
"So have you."
"But I still don't want the rest of my life to impact you."
"I will be here for you through all of this." I told him, wrapping my arms around him and pulling him to me.
"I can't really expect you to, especially because you have your own life."
"But you are a huge part of my life, and honestly, you saved my life."
"How?"
"Had you not asked me to come over, my dad would have made me die, you know that?"
"Wow, yeah I guess."
"Oh god the popcorn, Jeremy get it." He ran to get the popcorn out of the microwave.
"Sorry, it's kind of burnt."
"Haha, stupid talking about our lives, it made us burn our popcorn." I said jokingly.
"At least we didn't completely burn it."
"You mean at least you didn't burn it."
"Sure I do, you just want Doritos instead?"
"It's food, so sure."
"Here, now, the party, it is going to be stupid, dad doesn't serve alcohol but Nate's dad does."
"Ok, so hide from the parents."
"Exactly, and Kate."
"Why Kate?"
"She has an issue with cops getting drunk."
"That's reasonable."
"Hey, would you like to be my date for the dance tonight?"
"Yeah, of course, I thought that didn't need to be asked."
"I just wanted to make sure."
"Ok" I said and kissed his cheek.
"Now eat your food."
"I will, and yours." I said taking his bag of Doritos.
"Really, now I have to get up."
"Fine here."
"Thanks, we should probably go to the living room, or outside."
"Outside."
"Ok, there's a balcony off the side of the living room."
"Cool," I said running to the doors.
"Slow down, let me get the key."
"Sorry," I said honestly. He walked over to the door and unlocked it. He then opened it for me and walked out with me. It was so pretty outside, especially all the flowers. I hugged Jeremy for no reason, which was weird but I loved him so some of the awkwardness was gone.
"I love you." I said before realizing it.
"I love you too Ann." I almost screamed but instead I kissed him. I couldn't believe that he just said he loved me. After I don't know how long I pulled away.
"Um, well, what time is it, I need 2 hours for my makeup."
"No you don't, you are beautiful already, and it's only like 3ish I think."
"Ok, but still if I don't do my makeup Kate will scream."
"Let her, cause I want to keep you as long as possible."
"Oh really."
"Yes really,"
"Ok," I said snuggling my head into him. Why did I feel this way towards another guy, I trusted him, which was hard to do after what my father had done to me.
"Ann, why are you always so beautiful?"
"I didn't even know that I was beautiful."
"You are, and I love that you don't know how beautiful you are or else you would be even prettier than Kate and I would have had no shot with you."
"Of course you would have, I honestly haven't noticed other people, and you are the only guy that I can trust."
"Really, you trust me?"
"Yeah, of course I do, you didn't run away when you saw me and my past and all you ever did for me was to, in a way, take care of me."
"Well, I trust you too, and that was hard to do."
"Why do you trust me, I could go crazy on you."
"You are worth the pain that could come."
"No I'm not."
"Yes you are."

"Don't you dare say that you aren't worth it because you are."
"Fine I'll go get ready now, or else I would take to long."
"You don't need makeup."
"Um, it's kind of 6:30 and I need to put my dress on."
"Oh crap."
"Yeah."
"See you soon."
"Yep." I said walking to my closet, which weirdly wasn't in my room. When I got to my closet I grabbed my purple dress. It was short but not as short as the pink dress. I decided against make up, and just put my hair in a braid.
"Hey Ann, how are you."
"Good, where were you."
"Um, I was with my aunt, my moms sister."
"Oh, do I look ok?"
"Of course you do, you always do."
"Why does your family always say that?"
"Because we say what we see and what do you mean my family instead of just me."
"What, you're crazy I never said that."
"Yeah, you did."
"No, I didn't, you are hearing things."
"Jeremy told you that he thinks you are beautiful," I blushed,"oh my god he did."
"Shut up"
"Fine, but one more question, have you two kissed yet?"
"I'm not going to tell you, either way you would make fun of me."
"Please, I want to know, I'll tell you something about my love life."
"Fine, yes."
"Really, you guys kissed."
"Yes, now tell me, who was the first boyfriend that you made out with."
"Luke, he was my first boyfriend."
"Oh, ok, let's go."
"Yeah, don't want to be late"
"Ok, hey Kate, how are you?"
"I'm still alive."
"Yeah." she said as we reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Let's go to the car, Missy is going tonight." Jeremy said.
"Why?" I whispered in his ear after Kate walked away.
"Because my dad doesn't know."
"Oh, ok so, what's up."
"Nothing," he said taking my hand and walking to the car. When we got in the car Missy stared at me like she wanted to kill me. I just laughed and Jeremy told me to not make it worse, so I listened to him, but when she wasn't paying attention I curled up into Jeremy unconsciously, and fell asleep.
"Hey, wake up, you fell asleep,"
"Oh god, how am I going to make it through the night."
"Don't know."
"We should go in now, shouldn't we?"
"Yeah, and don't worry, Missy will get drunk, so she will probably hang on some other guy."
"So, that means that I get you tonight instead of having to act like I'm not your girlfriend that is in love with you?"
"Yep."
"Ok, let's go," I said and pulled him through the front door, immediately hit by music.
"The basement is where Nate, Kate you and I can hang out."
"Ok,"
"Ok, let's go downstairs."
"Hey, I see you are trying to keep her sane." A kid who I could only assume was Nate said.
"Yeah, where is my sister."
"Bathroom, she was complaining about not being able to do her make up."
"Of course she was," I said.
"Oh Ann, meet Nate."
"Hi," Nate said.
"Hey, is there anything to eat here."
"Yeah, hey is your maid here?"
"Yeah, but she's gunna stay where she can get drunk." Jeremy said.
"Why is she such a slut?" Nate asked.
"I don't know but it pisses me off," Jeremy told him, "especially the one time that she tried to makeout with me in the car last year."
"What?" I screamed.
"Sorry, forgot you already hate her,"
"Yeah, anyways food?"
"Fridge."
"Thanks."
"Welcome."
"Asshole."
"What why?"
"Not you," I told Nate, "her" I said pointing to Missy who was trying to kiss Jeremy. I walk away to get a snack and she starts acting like she's his girlfriend.
"Missy, what are you doing?" Jeremy asked.
"You know that you want me not that stupid suicidal brat." she screamed looking at me. I ran upstairs and tried to find Lucy, she would help me right? I eventually found her with Mr. Amerly at a table.
"Um, I need your guys' help."
"What's wrong is someone hurt."
"No, I don't think so but I need you guys."
"Ok," they said in unison but suspiciously and the followed me to the basement. Missy was still pushing Jeremy against the wall trying to kiss him.
"Missy, what are you doing, get away from me, I don't like you, ok. I love Ann, and I don't care about you."
"Missy, you get off of him right now." Mr Amerly yelled at her. And in that moment when Jeremy relaxed she kissed him, and I got so pissed off that I walked over to her and yanked her off of him by her ponytail.
"You are no longer welcome at our house," Lucy said, "David would you take her to some orphanage, this is unacceptable."
Jeremy looked over to me with a worried look. All I did was walk over to him and wrap my arms around him and pulled him into a hug.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't think that would happen."
"It's ok, I still trust and love you, and that showed me how much you love me."
"How?"
"Because you didn't give in when I left to be free, you fought her so you wouldn't have to kiss her."
"I would have felt terrible if I kissed her."
"Can we leave now?"
"Yes, we can walk if you want."
"That is fine, as long as you will carry me if I start to fall."
"Ok," he said and he picked me up.
"I said if I started falling."
"Well, I will literally walk you home."
"Haha, cute." so he walked me home and put me in my bedroom.
"Goodnight, see you in the morning," he said, slowly closing the door.
"Wait, please sleep in here, I don't want to lose you, especially because of tonight."
"Ann, it's weird if I sleep in here again, I don't want Kate to become a jerk about it."
"Please, I need you, my dad hasn't haunted me these past 2 days."
"Fine, but I need to shower first."
"That's fine."
"Ok," he said and shut the door. I quickly jumped to get on pajamas and grabbed my moms journal, it read,
Dear diary, nothing important today so, goodbye.
Well that was boring, but by the time I had gotten changed and read Jeremy came back in.
"Hey," I said, scooting over to one side. He got the hint that I wanted him to sleep next to me and laid down beside me.
"This is weird, the fact that you let me sleep here." He said, wrapping his arms around me.
"I guess, but it's not like anything happens."
"Yeah, anyways goodnight beautiful,"
"Goodnight," I said and kissed him which was weird, but neither of us were fazed by it, and after that we fell asleep, me while staring into his eyes.
