Amrit hissed as the doctor slowly pulled the cotton off her wound. The doctor examined her wounds carefully.
"Zyada gehre ghav nahi hai. Main wapas se marham patti kar rahi hun. Kuch din mein dheere ghav bhar jayenge. Aur han, har chaubees ghanto mein patti badal dena, warna septic ho jayega. Theek hai?"
the doctor instructed her and she nodded. The doctor bandaged her and went to attend other patients.
She looked around a found a team of doctors, examining the ones injured during the partition. Her eyes welled up seeing the damage partition had done. She clutched her suit near her chest and her breathes turned heavy seeing the dreadful scene in front of her.
She pressed her eyes tightly not able to handle the pressure. And her fingers played with each other nervously.
Suddenly her eyes softened and fingers stopped shaking when she felt a palm gripping her hand. She opened her eyes and found Randheer standing there.
She forced a smile seeing him and he sat beside her.
"Yeh jo dard bhari awaazein hai na Randheer, woh saari un begunah logo ki awaazein hai jinki kabhi koi galti nahi. magar fir bhi woh log aaj apni zindagi ke liye lad rahe hai.ZIndagi kabhi kabhi kitni kathor ho jati hai na."
"Main bas yahi ummeed karta hun Amrit ki yeh sab log bohot jald theek ho jaye aur wapas se apni zindagi ki ek nayi aur khushhal shuruat kare. yeh sab log is zindagi ke liye nahi bane."
Amirt nodded emotionally and before she can continue, her eyes fell on her parents coming out of a room with a pair of doctors. She immediately stood seeing them and went to them and Randheer followed her.
"Doctor sahab, mere ma bauji kaise hai? Unke ghav kaise hai? Aur woh kab tak bhar jayenge? Aur koi darne ki baat toh nahi hai na? Aur koi dawai deni hai inhe? Aap bataiye na, aap chup kyun hai?"
Amrit fired her questions. The doctor tried to speak but she was not allowing.
"Amrit! Amrit! Unhe bolne ka mauka toh dijiye. Aap hi bolti ja rahi hai."
Randheer exclaimed.
"Are han! Sorry sorry. Aap bataiye."
"Dekhiye aapke ma bauji theek hai. Bhale hi ghav abhi thode gehre hai magar ghabrane ki koi baat nahi hai. Dheere dheere ghav bhar jayenge."
Amrit sighed hearing the doctor and Randheer jumped in.
"Aur doctor sahab, inke taanke kab tak khul jayenge?"
"Abhi ek aur hafte toh taanke rakhne padenge. Aur uske baad hum wapas se jaanch karenge, agar sab sahi raha toh taanke khol denge, warna ek do din aur."
"Ji theek hai. Aapka bohot bohot shukriya."
The doctors nodded smilingly and left from there.
"Bhagwan ka lakh lakh shukriya ki aap dono theek ho. Meri toh chinta ke maare jaan hi nikli ja rahi thi."
Amrit said smilingly and Lala ji patted her head.
Till the time, others also came after being done with their check up and they left for their home.
Before leaving, Amrit turned towards all the patients and prayed for their welfare.

Gayatri answered the door and smiled seeing everyone back. Everyone came inside and settled down.
