Denning:
Denning is a behavioral thing that usually happens when someone goes through a traumatic experience or has withdrawal from their mate(s).

Typically, an omega and alpha stay in the location of the Omega's nest. They tend to prefer being solely in the dark. They spend however much time they need to breed and scent each other. It's like a heat/rut cycle without some of the heat/rut aspects, and it can trigger even right after a cycle does. It can last for weeks on end.

Mating season-

This is another thing that some people put in their stories. You won't find it everywhere. Basically, when an alpha or omega becomes "of age", they will go into a heat or rut, but it's not like the normal cycle, it lasts from 2-4 weeks (it honestly depends on the author) and basically they fuck the shit out of each other until the mating season ends. I'd say it starts when you are like 18-20, but for plot convenience (depending on the story) it can start at like 16. Which is the legal age of concent in my country, no I do not support ch!ld p0rn/smut/hentai! Don't do that, it's disgusting.

And before you say anything about "well, why doesn't it happen when they go into their first heat?" I don't know bro, I didn't come up with the idea. Many people before me made stories with this shit in it. Let's say the heats were to prepare them or some shit, I don't fucking know.
