1. Healing The Bridge

"Mei ne kaha, kahan hai wo chit", Meerab screamed.
Murtasim suddenly remembered that he was still holding onto the chit that kid had given him so he showed it to Meerab.
"Yeh mei ne nahi likha Murtasim", she said while shaking with anger.
"Haya! Hayaa!" Murtasim shouted as Haya ran out of the room. "Foran idhar ao".
Scared by Murtasim, Haya slowly came inside their room.
"Kya hai yeh Haya? Would you care to explain?" Meerab shouted as she showed the paper chit to her which was folded.
"Ek chit hai", Haya replied nonchalantly.
"Woh tou mujhe bhi dikh raha hai Miss Haya lekin kya tum bataogi ke tum ne ye kyu likhi?" Her reply had made Meerab more angry than before.
"Iss chit pe tumhara naam likha hai Meerab tou tumhe hi pata hona chahye ke tum ne ye kyu likhi", Haya tried to bluff by putting the blame on Meerab.
"Ohh! Mera naam likha hai iss pe? Lekin ye tou folded hai tumhe kese pata chala han?"
Haya knew she was caught, she turned white and looked at Murtasim for some sympathy.
"Mujhy kya dekh rahi ho Haya. Jawab do Meerab ko." Murtasim was just as angry as Meerab.
"Kya jawab du isse? Yeh tou apne shouhar ko uss ka haq tak nahi deti.", Haya shouted.
"Iss se tumhara koi lena dena nahi hai Haya. Sawal ye hai ke tum ne aesa kyu kiya?" Murtasim shouted.
"Chorr do isse Murtasim, we both know ke yeh hume koi seedha jawab nahi degi. Wese bhi Marium ki rukhsati ka waqt ho raha hai Maa Begum intezar kar rahi hongi", Meerab tried to dismiss the matter for the time being because she didn't want to have any further misunderstandings with Murtasim nor did she want to miss Marium's rukhsati.
Then she turned to Haya, "Tum ne agar ayenda mere shauhar ki taraf ankh utha kar bhi dekha na tou mei Maa Begum ko sab kuch bata dungi."
Haya nodded and left, while Murtasim stared at her in shock. Had she just called him "Mera shauhar". Did she finally accept him as a husband or was it just to warn Haya. He thought that it must have been the latter as Meerab was too stubborn.
"Chalein Murtasim? Rukhsati ka waqt ho raha hai", she said to him softly while holding out her hand to him.
"Huh? Han chalo". Murtasim couldn't understand why she was suddenly talking to him so softly and why had she held out her hand but he took it in his anyway.

Then they walked outside hand in hand.
"Beta kahan thay tum, hum sab rukhsati ke liye tumhara aur Meerab ka intezar kar rahe thay." Maa Begum complained.
"Kuch nahi Maa, ek zaroori phone call attend karne chala gaya tha. Rukhsati ka waqt ho raha tha tou Meerab mujhy bulane aa gayi", he lied and smiled at Meerab so that Maa Begum doesn't suspect that he was lying.
"Acha kiya Meerab usse bula liya", Maa Begum appreciated.
Then Maa Begum turned to Naurez. "Meri Bachi ka bohat khayal rakhna beta. Meri akloti beti hai Marium aur mujhy bohat azeez hai." she said with teary eyes.
"Maa Begum ap fikar na karen mei Marium ko bohat khush rakhunga", Naurez said to her with a smile.
"Han bilkul, Marium ko tou mei apni bahu nahi beti bana ke rakhungi ap ko fikar karne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai Maa Begum", Naurez's mother also assured her.
Maa Begum smiled and kissed Marium on the forehead. "Sada khush raho meri bachi. Meri duaye humesha tumhare sath hain."
Marium got a little emotional and hugged her mother while sobbing.
Then Marium turned towards Meerab and hugged her as well. "Allah kare tum Naurez ke sath bohat khush raho Marium", Meerub said as she also hugged Marium.
"Ameen", Murtasim placed his hand on Marium's head. "Apna khayal rakhna Marium." he said smiling at her with moistened eyes.
"Ap bhi apna aur Meerab Bhabhi ka khayal rakhiye ga" Marium replied.
Haya came forward to hug her cousin but Marium ignored her.
"Allah Hafiz Maa", she said to Maa Begum as Naurez seated her in the car.
"Allah Hafiz meri bachi", Maa Begum bade her goodbye.
