My beautiful girlfriend opens the door staring at me brightly
How can she still look at me like that despite how many times I let her down.
I really don't deserve her.
Not wanting to wait, I envelop her in my arms and place a kiss on her strawberry lips.
She steps back and looks at me sincerely.
"Hi" she laughs nervously.
"You look perfect"
Her eyes turn to doe and she whispers a "thank you".
The car ride is silent, I cant help but think of when I cancelled on her the other night. I know she acts like it doesn't bother her but I know it does.
Seeing her sleeping peacefully and having to leave without saying good morning and making breakfast for her was gutting.
I'm glad she's here with me now.
I reach over to her and hold her hand tenderly, she doesn't say anything but the way she looks at me says it all; "I know, Its okay".
At the Restaurant
I open the door for Emma and we walk into the lightly dimed restaurant
I pull out her chair and we order our usual
Spaghetti bolognaise
yes, just like lady and the tramp, don't ask why but its Em's favorite movie
She's sitting there looking at me smiling
"How was practice?" she asks sincerely
Most people ask that question and don't really care, but I know when she asks its because she's genuinely excited to hear all about it, its one of the things I love about her, she won't ask about something she doesn't care about. She's the most genuine individual I have the delight of not only knowing but being in a relationship with.
"It was good but I really wanted to apologize to you. I'm sorry for cancelling and leaving without saying anything in the morning, you looked so peaceful and I didn't want to wake you."
Her head lowers as she takes a minute to digest my apology and her soulful brown eyes meet back up at mine.
Her chest rises like she's preparing to shrug it off
"Don't say its okay because its not" I say before she can even respond.
She nods her head, "You're right, its not okay but I understand and I also know that hockey is important to you and if it's important to you, it's important to me too." she declared.
My lips perk up into a smile as I hold her hand across the table
"Now! Lets move on from this and enjoy our yummy food" she beams.
Right on cue our waitress serves our plate of spaghetti bolognaise and Emma insists on us eating it like how they did in lady and the tramp, god she's cute.
Of course like the fool I am I agree and we end up with meat sauce all over ourselves,
"how did those dogs not make a mess?" I say laughing
Her smile grows wider and her radiant laugh fills the room "I know right"
