At four, Taehyung woke up.
The lights were off. The room was pretty much completely dark.
He sighed, assuming Jungkook had turned it off once he'd fallen asleep.
But then, Taehyung froze as he became aware of what had woken him up.
He heard someone humming.
A woman was humming, loudly.
It was coming from the left of Taehyung, in the direction of the bathroom and the door to the hotel room.
It sounded like a mother humming a nursery rhyme, trying to soothe their baby to sleep.
He debated what to do.
He wished the light was still on.
As the humming got louder, Taehyung bolted from his bed, and ran over to Jungkook's, running all the way to the other side of it so he was farther away from the humming, and dove under Jungkook's blankets, throwing away his dignity as he scooted right up against him, pressing his face into Jungkook's chest and covering his ears with his hands.
He was trembling again.
He felt like the ghost was targeting him.
He laid wide awake as the humming continued, his eyes clamped shut as he tried to listen to Jungkook's breathing and his heartbeat, feel the steady rise and fall of his chest.
He didn't know how much time passed, but he jumped slightly when Jungkook moved, his arm coming to wrap around Taehyung.
Taehyung breathed out, and now feeling more protected, started to remove his hands from his ears.
The humming had stopped, but he didn't want to hear anything else, so he put his hands back over his ears.
Jungkook's breathing shifted, Taehyung noticing it after listening to it intently for however long it has been.
Jungkook was moving again, he was feeling Taehyung, and Taehyung could tell he was looking down at him.
"Taehyung?" He whispered.
Taehyung shook his head, though he felt relieved that Jungkook was awake now, meaning he was no longer alone.
"What happened? Why are you in my bed?" Jungkook asked.
Jungkook checked his phone, seeing it was 5:49.
They still had 11 minutes until their alarm went off.
"Taehyung," he repeated.
"Did you turn the light off?" Taehyung whispered.
"No, it must have a timer or something," Jungkook responded with an annoyed sigh, "is that why you're here? You were scared of the dark?"
Taehyung shook his head again, and finally opened his eyes, looking up at Jungkook, "someone was humming. Really close to me. It was a woman's voice. And she started to come closer, so I came here."
Jungkook stared down at him, and sighed, "how long did the humming last?"
"I dunno," Taehyung whispered, "I woke up because of it at four. But I put my hands over my ears to block it out."
Jungkook suddenly took Taehyung's hands, and removed them from his ears.
"Well, the humming is gone now. We have nine more minutes of sleep, Taehyung. Have you gotten any since four?"
Taehyung shook his head.
Jungkook sighed deeply, "if we don't go down for breakfast, we can get up at six thirty instead of six. You can sleep for half an hour, because I don't want you falling asleep in any of the meetings today. They're supposed to be long and boring, and it would reflect poorly on our company if you fall asleep."
