"Oh no! Not now! Maya, let's go!" I yelled, tugging her along. We ran to the nearest vent, footsteps, still tailing us closely. Maya picked me up and placed me in the air vent, and closed it shut. "MAYA!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" I screamed, trying to open it. Maya shook her head. "They'll look everywhere to look for that someone who was near them. They won't give up until they kill them. Here, take this, I want you to remember me forever. And remember your parents. Make sure to pray too!" She gave me her favorite necklace, something she would never let go of in a million years. Maya turned around. Facing the soldiers proudly, they shot her, right through the heart that once lived. I felt
the shattering of the warmth and confidence from within, quickly wherein shame and confusion fills in their absence. Some lucky ones can get back up quickly with support from close bonds of people and with their own realizations that become their "truth". But there are those who are not as I. Experiencing deeper trauma after the first climatic one makes it harder for me. Even I try to reach out for the "light" with all that I can, something or someone - even my own self - keeps pushing me down... I had to keep going. Not for revenge, but for justice. Revenge sounds more... evil like. Justice-for my family and all those who have died because of the stupid government. Why does the pain never go away in my heart?
Dedicated to ash-awesome @ash-awesome because she was here for me always and I'm glad to have someone like her to be my light.
I'd also like to dedicate this story to lily @BrownieRainbow for being there for me too. Good luck next year guys! :D
