What It Takes to Be a Hero

The Trios swords are encased in plastic when out in public.

~In the past, at night~

In the Midoriya household. A young Midoriya watches a video of All Might saving a bunch of people. 

All Might: "Hahahaha! Hahahaha!" 

Y.Midoriya: "Ahh...!" 

All Might: "Fear not, citizens! Help has arrived!" 

Y.Midoriya: "Mmm!"

All Might: "Because I am here!" 

Y.Midoriya: "Ahhh! Heh... He's the coolest in the universe! And once I get my Quirk, I'm gonna be a hero, just like him!" 

At a doctor's office. The doctor tells Midoriya that he should give up being a hero. 

Doctor: "Sorry, kid. It's not going to happen." 

Midoriya: "Gah..."

~In the present, on the roof of a building~

Midoriya grits his teeth as a girl glides down beside him. Y/n observes them both and playfully taps Midoriya's forehead. 

Y/n: "Get your breathing under control." 

All Might: "Explain." 

Y/n: "My great grand aunt Shinobu's Haori is big on me enabling me to glide down since it was her older sisters'." 

Midoriya: Even if I'll never have superpowers...

Bakugou: (Flashback) You're worse than the rest of these rejects, you Quirkless wannabe! Do you really think they'd let someone like you in when they have me?!

Midoriya: (Flashback) Ah...! 

Bakugou: (Flashback) You'd never be able to hang with the best of the best! 

Midoriya: Even if everyone thinks I'm useless... 

Inko: (Flashback) I'm sorry, Izuku! I wish things were different... 

Midoriya: Mom, that's not what I needed you to say. Couldn't you see? Despite everything... I still dream... and I have to know. 

All Might walks away from Midoriya. 

Midoriya: "Is it possible to become a hero even if I don't have a Quirk? I'm a normal kid without any powers... Could I ever hope to be someone like you?! Mmm..." 

All Might: "Without a Quirk?" 

A shock runs through All Might's body.

All Might: "Erk! Urgh... Ngh... Guh... Urgh..."

 All Might's body begins to release steam. 

All Might: "Oh, no... Not now... Dammit! Not here!" 

Y/n starts snikering. 

Midoriya: "People think I don't have a chance... and not having any powers makes me some kind of weakling. My classmates like to make fun of me. But you know what? That makes me want to prove them wrong. Ever since I was a kid, I've thought that saving people is the coolest thing you can do. I want people to see my fearless smile and feel safe... and be the kind of hero everyone in the world looks up to... just like you!" 

The steam clears, revealing All Might's true form. 

Midoriya: "Wahhh... Ahhhh!!"

Y/n giggles.
