Theodore Nott had gone onto the same course as Y/N after he was reformed for his part in the death eaters. Any teenagers who had been coerced by family were given a one year in Azkaban followed by a year in a rehabilitation centre that worked towards turning them into upstanding citizens. For some it worked, for others there would be weak attempts to start up the death eaters again, but never successful.
Nott had been semi successful in this program in the sense, he still upheld his discriminatory views of half bloods, muggle borns and muggles, however he had put the death eater life behind him. It had made him quite unbearable first, however a couple years in, he began to 'see the light' in his words, slowly but surely abandoning his views that his parents and situation conditioned him to have. Thanks to this Y/N and Theo had grown to be friends, good friends. He poked his head into the room where they were talking a patient's temperature. "Yo Y/N me and some of the others are getting drinks in ten, wanna come?" He whispered. They looked up "hell yeah Theo, I'm just finishing up then I'm going to clock out." He gave them a thumbs up and vanished. Thank God, a break with friends, some drinks and finally getting to sleep will do them some good. Upon finishing up they headed to the changing room, getting out of their healer garments and into their clothes before hurrying out to meet the rest of them.
Theo was the only one outside by the time they were ready. "I sent the others ahead." He grinned extending an arm for them. Linking arms they walked down the street, the summer night air blowing gently in a refreshing way. The air filled Y/N's lungs and brushed through their hair.
The healers and nurses all went to this one secret bar that wasn't really a secret it's just nurses and healers never told their friends about it because it was their place to unwind therefore nurses and healers were the only people keeping it in business, which wasn't a problem because they were all there a LOT. The pair walked in to music playing on the radio, some of the women and women crowding around an old tv to watch the football, whilst others sat with drinks in hands or stood by their friends swaying to the awful music. The air was thick with cigarette smoke, as always and not a single person was left without a drink in hand.Theodore leant over the bar "Blaise two beers please." Blaise Zabini, another reformed death eater, had been working in the ministry, however unexpectedly found he had a peculiar passion for bartending. Quit his ministry job and never looked back. He slid the opened bottles across straight into Theo's hand. Y/N extended their hand taking their beer. "Thanks Blaise!" They called backwards walking to their table. They took seats and Y/N noticed an empty seat with a lonely looking butter beer. "We missing someone?" They asked in the general direction of the table. No one had to answer because their answer sat down soon after "Sorry I took- Y/N you're here?" Draco began. One of the nurses who had came over from a neighbouring country perked up "You two know eachother?" She asked. "Yeah."
"No." The pair looked at eachother as the group exchanged weird glances about their in sync, but opposing answers.
"I mean no."
"I mean yes." Y/N, now seeing the weird expression on Theodore's face who very much went to their school too, took initiative "what we mean is, we were in the same year but let's just say we surrounded ourselves with very different crowds." Draco gulped nodding. "Yeah different friend groups. I was mates with Theodore and Blaise." Those who went to hogwarts nodded remembering vividly what Y/N meant by different crowds, not that any of them, Y/N included gave Theo or Blaise a hard time most of the time, but the other boys did have to adjust to the simple fact that even though their colleagues and friends accepted them, they'd never accept their past nor should they because they were part of a horrible cause even if because this was indoctrinated into them, meanwhile the others who didn't just nodded blankly, aware that the war had occurred but unaware there were a few ex death eaters in their proximity. Draco sipped his butter beer. "So did you two ever cross paths before then?"
"Well I suppose you could say that, but we weren't really... compatible persay... as friends of course." Y/N said taking a swig. Theodore looked between the pair, seeing Y/N's steaming anger and Draco's silent shame and began piecing together the puzzle. Draco sneaking off at night, the incident with Pansy and the amortentia when she thought Draco liked her but described some mystery person's smell, when they disappeared during the battle, the scar. He gulped and downed his beer hurrying back to the bar for another drink. "Blaise." The boy hissed red in the face "yanno when Draco was screwing someone but wouldn't tell us who and then in Azkaban he kept yelling-" Blaise whacked him with a tea towel "zip it yes."
"Y/N."
"What?"
"It was Y/N."
"No but they barely talked and when they did it was just insult after insult." Theodore smirked "Yeah mental innit. Anyways pass is another beer will ya." Blaise slid a beer over and he returned back to the table, which had now moved onto discussing who's patient did the weirdest thing today. Draco and Y/N desperately avoiding each others gaze.
