Y/N's brows furrowed, glaring at the factory their boyfriend had built. At first it was.. fine, but he kept biggering. They hated this, and they were mad at themself for being mad at the Once-ler too however. Y/N remembered how excited he had been, as the factory was being built for the first time.
"Y/N! Look! Isn't it gorgeous!?", he barked at you, his eyes wide and his grin too. Your face wasn't as estactic however. Infact is was worried, you couldn't help but thinking this wasn't a good idea. "Uh.. it's..", your voice trailed off, and he finished the sentence for you; "Amazing? Beautiful? Perfect? Wonderful?!", "Uh.. maybe more concerning?" you said, hesitently. His face fell.

Thinking of this memory made you cringe in sadness, it was the last time the Onceler was really HIM, who he used to be. You felt slightly responsible for this outcome, you didn't see the issue until he began chopping down more and more trees. You tried telling him to stop, but it was never the right time, or he wouldn't listen.
But today you were going to get him to stop, or you'd leave before your lungs hurt more.

You made your way to the factory, a determined look on your face. The Lorax ran up beside you, "What are you doing?", he asked. "I'm gunna talk to him.", you glared at the factory, the thing that brought him so much joy, and it used to do the same to you. "Again?" he retorted, "I dunno how that's gunna go, Y/N" he finished. You looked at The Lorax, your glare softening, and being repalced by a somber look, "I know, but I have to try.", he smiled weakly at you as the two of you got to the factory doors.
Pushing the heavy doors open you saw the front desk, his mom at the desk, staring at the computer. She looked so tired, lifeless even. You never liked the woman, but you felt pity for her.

You and The Lorax climbed the stairs to Oncelers office, with every step your heart began racing more. You reached the double-doors, Brett and Chet standing on either side. "Do you have an appointment?" Brett.. or maybe Chet asked, you took a deep breath, "Uh.. yeah.", they didn't bother checking and opened the doors.
"Wait here, Lorax." you told him, he nodded and with that you walked into your boyfriends office.
He was staring happily at his model of Thneedville. Your heart hurt looking at him, his expression looked similar to one he'd made before he got so.. greedy.
"Oncie..?" You spoke out, Onceler's head turned to you, a suprised expression. "I told them not to let anyone.." his voice trailed off, before smiling again, "Ah what the hell? It's you, so it's fine!" he stood, walking over to you.

"Long time no see, N/N!" he held your hand, and kissed it. You sheepisly smiled, "Yeah.. uh.. it has!" he walked back to his chair, sitting down, "C'mon! Sit down!" he gestured to a chair, and pushed his Thneedville model to the side.
You sat down, now across from him. "So? What's up?" he asked, "Well.. it's about the Thneeds, techinally." you said, trying to steady your nerves.

Onceler raised his eyebrow, before furrowing them. Onceler seemed to think for a moment, before finally speaking, "Is this about the trees again? Did The Lorax send you or something?" he sounded defensive. "No, the Lorax didn't send me.. and yeah, it's about the trees." you spoke, looking nervous. "Seriously? Again?" he said, crossing his arms. "Listen.. they're almost ALL gone! A whole valley of trees gone! You can't keep doing this!" You defended the trees, glaring slightly at him. "Listen, Y/N, here's how I think of it." he stood, going behind you and holding your shoulders, dropping down to your level. "If I.. didn't do this, someone else might do it! They could do it worse, cause more damage!", he smiled, satisfied with his logic, and was expecting you to be aswell.

You stood up, "That's.. I mean I guess-", He cut you off "See? It's perfect!" He laughed. "You know what. Okay. You can cut down everytree in the valley, or in the world, see how much I care! But I'm leaving." You barked at him. "Leaving.. Leaving what exactly?" he looked stern. "I'm leaving the valley-- I'm leaving you, Onceler." You huffed. He looked shocked.
"You're.. leaving me? No. Hold on. We're adults. Let's talk this out.. like adults." he said calmly, though his face didn't reflect his tone.

"Y/N, Y/N. You have an outburst like this every what- month? Calm down. We're not breaking up." he added, "I don't care how many outbursts I've had! We're done, Onceler.", he scowled at you.
"No. Let's talk." with that you began walking away.
He followed you down the steps, and out the doors, reasoning to deaf ears.

You both reached a tent, long forgotten by the Onceler. You walked in, grabbing the dust filled suitcase you had when you first arrived in the valley, when you first met The Onceler. You began packing your things, "Y/N stop packing! Look.. Look at me!" his voice was angry, but had an undertone of fear. "Say something dammit!" He shouted. "You want an apology!? FINE. I'm sorry, okay!? I'm sorry! There! Stop packing!" when you didn't respond, his face fell, he seemed to finally realize this was actually happening.

"You're not.. actually leaving me? Right?" he asked, bullets of sweat forming on his forehead. "Y/N, look at me! T-Talk to me, please!" he pleaded, tears forming, "You want me to be alone?! You're gunna leave me alone!?" he began going into a frenzy of begging and guilt tripping. Tears falling from his eyes.

He couldn't follow you as you left.
