(Y/N)'s P.O.V

I let out a laugh as Merrick and I race to the stables on our horses, the two of us neck and neck. In the end, he won. I had to stop Boadicea from running down a servant, but Angus had gracefully avoided her and made it to the stables.

He leaps off Angus and I stick my tongue out childishly, "I want a rematch, Merrick!"

"Name it, time and place, and I'll be there!" Merrick states back with a wide grin, nodding as he chuckles.

"I'll beat you next time, just you wait," I say playfully and jump off Boadicea, leading her to where Angus was in the stables.

They whinny at each other and he rubs his snout against her own, his ears perked.

"I'm starving." Merrick complains. "You hungry too, Angus?"

He pats his horse's rear, making Angus snort and smack him in the face with his tail. Merrick's bangs fall in his face, making me snort as he blows them back into place.

"Oats it is, then," Merrick grins, making his way over to the horse feed.

"I can do that," I tell him quickly, watching as he carries a bag of oats over.

"Ah, ah, ah!" He shakes his head, "it's your day off, (Y/N). No maid duties or chores."

I huff but smile in thanks as he fills both horse's troughs with food and water and we make our way inside.

...

Merrick slams the door to the kitchen open and I stifle a laugh as some of the servants jump in surprise.

"Good day, Prince," a servant greets and bows, turning to me with a small smile. "(Y/N)."

I smile and wave, trying to follow Merrick as he maneuvers through the servants.

He grabs two apples and I roll my eyes with a grin as he stuffs them away, smiling at a servant boy who almost notices.

When the boy looks away he tosses an apple at me and shoves his own in his mouth, spotting a plate of sweet rolls and spinning around, grabbing it off the table behind him.

I raise a brow and he simply smiles as he turns and brings it to his side, and we make our way to the dining room.

...

"And then, out of nowhere, the biggest bear you've ever seen!"

"He's telling the story, again," I chuckle, watching Merrick toss his apple core on the floor. "Oy! I'm gonna have to pick that up!"

He snorts, "finish your apple."

"Aye, I will! I just take longer than you, Merrick. I don't have your large trap," I laugh, making him glare at me playfully with a huff.

I continue to munch on the apple as we enter the dining hall, finishing it before Merrick takes my core and tosses it behind us, making me give him a scolding look as he smiles innocently.

"His hide littered with the weapons of fallen warriors." Fergus continues dramatically, gaining our attention.

"His face scarred..." Fergus traces over his eye as Harris does the same, mouthing the words. "With one dead eye."

He takes a large leg and pretends to draw it as Merrick creeps closer with a smirk.

"I drew my sword, and--"

"Whoosh!" Merrick suddenly yells, making the boys jump and look at him with large smiles. "One swipe, his sword shattered!"

"Then, 'CHOMP'!" I snap my hand towards them, playing along due to knowing the story well from him telling it nearly every night. "Your dad's leg was clean off! Down that monster's throat it went..."
