Brandon watched as Samiya checked the time for the tenth time since they had arrived inside the airport. It was a quarter to five, but Amber had called when they were en route to inform the two that her flight had landed forty-five minutes early and was pleased to hear the two were already on their way.
"What do you think she's doing?" Samiya wondered, turning her screen off and holding her phone between both hands.
"Testing your patience," Brandon answered, rolling his eyes.
"I thought she landed early," Samiya whined, ready to see her wife already.
Brandon glanced over at Samiya and continued to survey the premises. Samiya had already found Amber's luggage on the carousel and had Brandon take it out to the car. She was disappointed that he had made it back with time to spare.
Meanwhile, Amber was trying to help a little old Colombian man find some help. She wasn't sure what made him just walk up to her, but he was sure lucky she spoke Spanish. She knew that Brandon and Sammi were waiting, and she was anxious to get back to them. But if she needed help, she would want someone to help her.
When she realized that he was looking for the currency exchange, she smiled and asked him to follow her. She knew exactly where it was. It was out of her way, but she would still get where she was going. "Do you speak Spanish well?" she asked the girl behind the counter.
"Not really."
Amber played translator until the man had what he needed, and he thanked her profusely, even trying to offer something to her for the trouble. She politely declined and wished him a good visit.
When Amber finally made it out to her baggage carousel, she didn't have time to blink before there was an excited woman in her arms, kissing her all over her face. "I missed you too, Samiya," Amber said, wrapping her arms around her wife. Samiya smelled so good to her, that she just wanted to hold onto her for a moment.
Samiya pulled away slightly and held Amber's face in her hands, kissing her like she was never going to see her again. Amber smiled and caressed her wife's cheeks.
Brandon stood back and waited as patiently as he could. But when it seemed that Samiya wasn't going to give him his turn, he took her by the waist and lifted her off her feet to move her aside so that he could wrap Amber in his embrace.
"Excuse you," Samiya huffed.
"It's my turn," he told Samiya, smiling down at Amber. "I missed you, baby."
"I missed you too, chulo."
Brandon leaned down and kissed Amber, kissing her just as passionately as Samiya had, his strong hands gripping her and making her feel secure.
"If I'm going to have you two competing for me like that, I'm leaving more often," she joked, leaning up to peck Brandon's lips before she pulled away to look for her bags.
"We have that already, baby," Brandon told her, taking her hand.
Samiya moved to Amber's other side, putting her arm around her waist, finding her free hand smoothing down her wife's curly edges. "I'm so glad you're back."
"I'm glad I'm back too." Amber pecked Samiya's lips, and Brandon led the girls to his car. "Do you want to drive, Sammi?" he asked, seeing that she clearly wanted to be in Amber's space.
She took the keys, and he opened their doors before sitting in the back. The entire time, Samiya held Amber's hand unless she needed to switch gears.
"I can't wait for you to see what we have for you," Samiya told her. "We made reservations at Mantequilla for tomorrow night. But tonight, I made dinner."
