We went in the building and headed to our classes. Today was a tag seminar day. And I was looking forward to learning or teaching today's class depending on what exactly it is. I zoned out in all of my other classes just thinking about all of the different things that we could possibly talk about. The bell rings for the last class to start and I run to my seminar.
"Welcome class. Today we are going to be looking at two different creatures. The hounds of Hell and the Angels of Heaven." The teacher announces. I get so excited that I kick the desk in front of me on accident. "Sam, are you okay?" The teacher asks.
"Yes, ma'am." I tell her. She gives me a weird look but continues teaching.
"Okay. So, who can tell me about Hell Hounds?" She asks. I let a few other kids raise their hands first.
"Tyler, what do you know about the hounds?" She asks.
"They collect souls. Or at least that's what I got from Supernatural." He replies. I roll my eyes at him but stay quiet.
"Okay. Anyone else?" The teacher asks. No one raises their hands for a while so I shoot up in my desk. "Sam?"
"Hell Hounds are kind of like werewolves. Some are shifters and some are not. The only Hounds that collect souls are the ones that work for the crossroads, the others are free to do what they want. The ones that are not shifters usually wander around aimlessly and can't travel between dimensions but the ones who can shift between human and Hound can very easily travel dimensions." I stop explaining and wait for the out pour of questions.
"How would you know any of this stuff? You're so weird. I mean you just moved here and then you miss a few weeks of school out of the blue and you know everything about all of this monster stuff?" One of the kids comments.
"I like to do research on monsters. I'm a writer of fantasy stories. I need to know what I'm talking about." I reply. The kid scoffs but turns around.
"Okay. Sam, which Hounds can shift?" The teacher asks me. She raises an eyebrow as if she really doesn't think that I know all of my answers. I smile at her.
"The royal families. More specifically the royal family of the first circle whose animal is the Hound." I answer her. I bet she doesn't have that in her notes and if she does then I guess she's hiding something from us too.
"That's very interesting." She picks up a pencil and writes that little note and I take a breath and relax a little. "Now, Angels. What do we know about angels?" She asks the class. A bunch of kids raise their hands for this question. "Matt?"
"They live in heaven." He answers. I have to stop myself from laughing out loud at his absurd answer. The teacher sees my smile and calls on me.
"Since you find his answer so funny maybe you could tell us a little bit about angels, Sam?" She says. I nod and sit up in my desk again.
"There are three different types of angels. There are warriors, guardians, and messengers. The warriors fight on Earth to keep humans safe but of course we never see any of that. The guardians are the ones that are made to protect one person for their whole life and once their person dies they go back to heaven for a new assignment and some guardians are assigned bigger assignments like watching over a whole town which then gets a whole group including a seraphim, warrior and messenger and sometimes a newbie angel gets to go out with the group. The messengers have the most important job of all which is spreading the good word or bad news depending on who they are going to." I finish. Everyone just stares at me and there are no questions. Thomas shakes his head at me and smiles.
"You're really annoying, you know that?" He whispers to me. I shrug my shoulders and smile.
"I can't help it. I've got the knowledge. I need to share it." I say. Then the bell rings and I run out of the school building toward my apartment until I hear growling surrounding me. Hounds.
