This is my first day at a new school and I can't really say that I'm nervous because I've been to about three different schools in the past year. I have to keep moving I don't even know why I waste all of the time to get myself enrolled in a school. It's not like I have parents who care if I learn anything.
"Students. This is your new classmate. Her name is Sam." The teacher says. She puts her hand on my shoulder. "Sam feel free to sit wherever you want." I nod and walk to an empty desk. I could tell that everyone was staring at me in amazement. The guy behind me taps me on the shoulder. I turn around.
"What?" I say. I'm trying not to sound too annoyed but I can't stand all of the people staring at me.
"Where did you move here from? Usually they announce that. Do you have some kind of special case or something? You're not the kind of person who likes to get into fights are you?" He says.
"Why does it matter to you? Just stay in your own business and let me worry about myself." I say. I turn back around and people started whispering about my awesome accent and how tough and cool I looked.
"Now students. I've written some questions up on the board I want you to answer them as a class." The teacher says. What class is this again? Oh. Tag seminar about monsters? How ironic. "We are going to talk about vampires and demons today. Now the first question. What is the easiest way to kill a vampire?" She looks over the class and no one raised their hand. I guess I'll go ahead and look smart. I raise my hand.
"Well, contrary to popular belief stakes don't really kill vampires. If you really want to get rid of one try a silver cross but of course that only works for so long. Vampires will die if they don't drink blood for a week or if they walk out in the sun without a protective pendant from a witch." I say. By now everyone is staring at me with their mouths hanging open.
"Wow. It seems that you know a lot about this kind of stuff." The teacher says.
"The stakes always work though." One of the kids says.
"Yeah. They work on humans too. I can show you if you want." I say. I don't even have to turn around to see the frightened look on his face.
"Okay. Next question. This one is how you can kill a demon." The teacher says. I raise my hand again.
"You can't. You can only banish them. Exorcisms are only temporary seals to keep the demon away. Humans are incapable of destroying demons but demons can destroy other demons. I won't tell you how though because that's against the law." I say. The teacher stares at me.
"Against whose law?" She says. I roll my eyes and scoff.
"It's against my law. I don't spill my secrets to anyone." I say.
"Are you saying that you are one of these creatures?" She says. I hate skeptical people and I knew that every person in this room was skeptical.
"Pfft. No. I just know a lot about this stuff. It's the reason I move around so much." I say. Then, the bell rings and I run out. That was the closest I've ever come to telling someone about it.
"Hey. Sam. Wait up." It was the guy from my class. What does he want now? He ran up and grabbed my arm and I felt the familiar tingling sensation that you feel when you come in contact with another supernatural being. I turn around and look at him. I can now see that he is extremely pale and lanky.
"Hmm. The witches really did fix you guys up didn't they?" I say. I look up into his eyes. "Oh but you're not an original. Sucks."
"Whoa. How did you know that? I'm not even showing my true self." He says.
"I'm not stupid. You're too pale and your eyes still look human. If you were an original they would look all insane and I would be able to see little specks of red in the very middle of your pupils." I say. He looks completely dumbfounded. I pat his shoulder. "It's okay. I won't tell anyone."
"You know how to kill me though. How do I know that I can trust you?" He says.
"You also know how to get rid of me. I think that both of us knowing how to get rid of the other is enough to help us trust each other." I say. I turn around and walk away. Crap. I just gave him a hint about what I may or may not be. Oh well. It's not like he can do anything about it.I head into the lunch room and look around at all of the people. There are too many of them. I don't even bother to get food. I find an empty table in the corner and sit down and put my headphones in. I feel someone slide into the seat across from me and I look up to see the kid from that stupid tag seminar sitting there.
"Hey. You looked lonely. I figured that I would be your first friend." He says. His smile is really sweet. It makes me want to smile back but I don't smile so I won't.
"Oh. Okay. I've never really had any friends. I move around too much for that. It's hard when you're..." I stop short.
"When what? You can't just leave a cliffhanger like that." He says. I wasn't really listening to him because I had gotten distracted by a sound. It was one that was only made for my ears.
'We found you. You won't get away from us this time. We will destroy you once and for all.' I put my hands over my ears and slam my head on the table and let out a whimper.
"No. Go away. I don't want to fight." I say out loud. Great now I sound crazy.
"Sam? What are you saying? Who are you talking to?" The kid says.
"Duck." I say. He looks at me with a confused look. "Duck!" I say louder. I grab him and pull him away from the table just as a giant axe lands where he was sitting. His eyes are wide. "Dammit! Why did it have to be now? It's only my first day you know. Maybe you could give me a little peace?" I yell. Everyone is staring at me now. "I have to go. I don't know if I'll be back." I say to the kid and then I run out of the building and into the forest where I could transform and get out faster.I ran for 15 minutes before I came to a stop in a clearing in the woods. I was far enough away from the school now. I shift back into my humanoid form and stare at the circle of demons that is surrounding me.
"It's nice to see you again I guess." I say. I look to the front of the circle and see my father standing there. "It's been a while. Not long enough though. You know I could go eternity without having to see your face again." I say.
"Yes. I could say the same to you. I have come today to make that arrangement possible for you." He says. A grin comes across his face. "You will die and as long as you live in hell I will never bother you. How about that plan?" He says as his grin gets even bigger.
"Oh. Right. I have to go back to hell." I say. I pretend to pout about it. Then, I get a huge grin on my face as well. "You know you and your men can't touch me. I'm too powerful for you. Why don't you just leave before you waste anymore of your precious time?" I say. He snarls at me. He has such a quick temper. I guess that's where I got it from or maybe all demons just have really short tempers. "What's the matter. Did I make a little doggy mad." I say in a little baby voice. He gives me a low almost guttural growl.
"Attack her!" He yells at his men. They all scream and jump at me at the same time. I brace myself for the fight but then I notice someone watching and get distracted. Dammit! He followed me. A couple of the demons noticed him too.
"Get out of here! Run!" I say to him but he doesn't move. Dammit! I use my teleport power to appear over him and I rip the demons heads off. I look back at him. I know my eyes are glowing red and I have my wolfy fangs. "You need to leave." I say. His eyes are wide as he just sits there and stares at me. I growl at him and he gets up and runs. I move back to the middle of the circle. "Who's next. Don't be shy." I say with a big grin on my face. I was one of the best fighters back when I lived in hell. I always made the fight incredibly gruesome so that any people that were still waiting to fight would be scared and run away. i honestly don't like fighting and I wish that they would stop attacking me every chance they get. They all look at each other as they watch their friends bodies turn to ash before their eyes. They run away with their tails between their legs whimpering. Now, it was just my father and I. We circled each other grinning. He was the first to shift and he went for my shoulder I dodged and shifted myself.
'Wow. You know I know you don't like to fight fair but I never thought that you would actually attack me while I was trying to shift. Eh. It doesn't matter. I'm still going to rip you to shreds.' I say to him. He snarls back and crouches low preparing for the next attack.
'Are you sure you can rip me to shreds? You can't see me and you barely know when I'm about to attack you. How will you get the last laugh?' He sneers at me. He lunges forward with all of his strength and latches onto my shoulder. I yelp and throw him off. 'See? You didn't even know it was coming. The next time it will be your neck.' I know he's serious but it just makes me laugh that he thinks breaking my neck is going to kill me. I've been alive for over three hundred years and I've gotten all of these same injuries every time we fight.
'You seem to forget that you injure me like this every time we fight. I always beat you and I always will. You will never be stronger than me and I think that it's time you accept that and leave me alone.' I say to him. I lunge and dig my teeth into the skin of his neck and hear the satisfying crunch of his bones as he falls limp. I stand up and shift back into my humanoid form. Time to get back to school.
