I crashed through the woods, gasping for breath. Not far behind me, I heard voices yelling, horses whinnying, and the ground shaking. Here to get me.

Running as fast as I can, I tried to escape my pursuers. I was already exhausted from running for hours. Still, they were following me. My legs and arms were scratched and bleeding from twigs I had encountered and stumbled through. My long hair was matted and stuck to my head with sweat.

Too late. I knew death was approaching. My eyes blurred, and I felt myself crashing to the ground. My heavy numb body lay in a heap beside a tree, unable to get up again. Goodbye, I thought with relief. I would soon be able to escape the pain. Journey to the heavens above and live in happiness forever. Forget all my sorrows and be in a relaxed mindless state for all of time.

"Found her!" I heard someone cry with glee. Hoof steps followed quickly, and I guessed they were now huddled around me, forming a circle around my broken form. I waited for Him to approach and kill me slowly and painfully. It was Him who had tortured me. Him who chased me here.

"Well well well," he drawled. "Our little princess about to die, eh. I bet you want that yourself. Of course, though, dying would be too painless. Too good a ending for you."

He continued, "Why not let you live your life, princess? An immortal life. But no, you won't remain human. I would make you an ugly beast, something everyone is terrified of, will try to shun. That would be such a change for a lovely princess who denies her lover. " He considered it, chuckling in that evil yet beautiful voice that I had fallen for years before but now hated.

Finally, he sighed. "No, although I would love to do that, a small part of me feels pity for you. You will remain a beast, but a nicer one in fact. You'll thank me too. It fits you. Small and innocent like you. Easy to kill. But dangerous."

He flicked his wrist, and my vision blackened.

When I woke up, I felt different. I was still exactly where I was before, but my body felt strange. Bulkier and warmer. I looked down and screamed. No, not screamed. Whinnied.

I scrambled to my feet and instead saw four hooves. Panicking, I ran to the nearest pool of water I saw and looked at my reflection, seeing a white mane and tail, sturdy white body, short white legs, and a horn.

He turned me into a unicorn.
