Chapter 13

Lucy's POV

It's been too long since we've done one of these. A mission.

"What's our mission this time?" I ask Mira.

"Take out a gang. It didn't sound too bad."

"How many?"

"I don't know. I didn't have time to find info on them."

I hope I get to fight. It's been a while since I've gotten to fight. After walking a few blocks, we stop in front of what looks like a new house.

"Hey! Why'd we stop!" I shout.

"Keep it down! This is it, dumb ass!"

Oh. It doesn't look like a gang would be here. But then again that's exactly why they picked it. I look back at the house. The lights are off and it looks like no one's home.

"Ok, Lucy, you're going in first. Me, El, and Mira will go with you. Everyone else can go from the back and take out people back there. After we take care of everyone, we'll go upstairs." Evergreen says. Sounds like she's got it all sorted out.

"Got it!" everyone cries.

"Don't forget to keep it quiet. We don't want people hearing screams."

I shake my head and take my knives out.

"Ready?" I ask quietly.

"Yeah," Ellie, Mira, Evergreen reply.

"Let's go!"

I walk quietly to the door and put my ear to the door. I hear some quiet murmuring, but other than that it's silent. I knock on the door and wait for someone to answer it.

"Hel-" the guys starts. I take my knife and stab him on the side. He doubles over in pain as I kick him to the side. Ellie and Mira have their guns out and I duck as they open fire on the people in the room.

I survey the room and see that most of the gang have hidden themselves behind furniture. Some of them are lying on the floor, dead.

"Move!" I shout as the other side retaliates. I dash behind a conveniently placed recliner. I put my knife back in its sheath. I pull out my gun from its holster and switch off the safety. I poke my head out and try to locate the enemy. Some shoot at me, making me have to dodge. I shoot towards the place where the bullet came from. After a couple of minutes of this exchange of bullets, the firing ceased. Did we get them?

"You guys still alive?" I call out from behind the recliner.

"Shot, but alive," Evergreen says from behind a sofa.

"I'm fine!" Mira says in her usual cheerful voice.

"Same," Ellie says.

I stand up from where I was, only to hear another gun go off. I'm startled by the sudden noise and look to where the sound comes from. I feel a sharp pain in my arm. Fucking bitch. I shoot at the area where I think the person is. I don't hear anymore shots, so I walk over.

Yup. He's dead. I check my wound and it looks like the bullet just grazed me. That was close. I should probably think before I do anything.

"Where'd you get shot?" I ask Evergreen as I walk over.

"Just my hand."

"Which one?"

"Left."

I stand above her and look at her injury.

"At least it was a clean cut," I say.

"Yeah but now I've got a fucking hole in my hand that hurts like a bitch."

I tear a strip of cloth from my shirt. I wrap her hand and tie the two ends together.

"We'll have Wendy look at it later."

"Did you guys finish over there?" Levy calls out to us.

"Yeah," I say back.

We walk around the stairs and find the rest of the gang waiting for us.

"Ok, we're going to split up again. My group is going to climb the tree in the back and when you go into the room, we'll come in through the window and get them from behind." Evergreen says.

"Hey, what's with all the noise down there?" I hear someone shout from upstairs. I listen for footsteps, and it sounds like it's just him coming down the stairs. I look at Erza and nod. She silently slips past me and onto the stairs. Me, Ellie, Evergreen, and Mira turn and start walking towards the back door.
We have a peaceful walk to the tree in the back. I go first, then Evergreen and Ellie, and finally Mira.

"How long are we going to have to wait?" El complains.

"Until they come in."

We wait a few more minutes before the others burst into the room.

"That's our cue," I say as I open the window. Wait. THE WINDOW WON'T OPEN.

"Guys. The window is stuck shut!"

"No way! Try again," Ellie says.

I pull up on the window. "It won't work!"

"Here, just let me try," Ellie says. I scoot over and she steps over me. "Fuck! You're right, it won't open."

"Just punch the window then!" I say. Ellie lifts her fist up to punch it and when she does punch it, it doesn't even crack.

"What the fuck is wrong with this window?!" Ellie exclaims. I look back inside the room and see the most of the opposing gang on the ground. Damn it. I missed out on all the fun because a stupid fucking window. THIS IS NOT FAIR. WHAT THE FUCK. After I get to watch the rest beaten unconscious, I tell Evergreen to start climbing down. She shoots me a dirty look, but other than that, she stays silent. She's probably still upset about the window.

We meet up with the others in front of the house.

"Where the fuck were you guys?! We needed back up you know!" Levy yells at us.

"It didn't look like you needed help."

"Yeah, we didn't, but still! You're supposed to stick with the plan!"

"The stupid window wouldn't open," Evergreen muttered with her arms with her arms crossed.

"And whose fault was that?"

"Not mine," I say shrugging my shoulders.

"Don't lie to me."

"I'm not."

"Whatever. Just, next time, stick with the plan."

"Fine. Let's go back now. I'm getting tired."
