"Saigiku?! Saigiku- it'll be okay. Please.. please stay with me. Saigiku.."
"Tetchō. I'm sorry. Please..just.."
"Saigiku— don't say that. Please. Don't leave me."
...
"Saigiku?.."..
"SAIGIKU!"
[2 weeks..after Jōno's death]It's been two weeks since Saigiku Jōno died— two weeks since Ochi— or Gen'ichirō Fukuchi was arrested and taken into custody. Two weeks since the Vampirism ended and order was restored.
Ability user— Priceless Tears.
Tetchō Suehiro's lover of 3-4 years.Tetchō walks out of his office at HQ, expression emotionless. He simply shuts the double doors, smoothing out his tie—
And fixing his earring.
Jōno's earring. It's the day of Jōno's funeral. He's dressed well.
Tetchō notices Teruko and Tachihara, chatting along at the end of the hallway, seemingly concerned. He takes a few steps until he reaches them."Teruko?.." he asks, tapping the new Commander's shoulder.
"Tetchō-?" She seems shocked, not expecting Tetchō yet. They were leaving in ten minutes for the funeral.. and she had seemed to be talking with Tachihara about some sort of topic.
They were all on first name terms now— they'd grown closer over time, now all regarding each other with the same level as respect. Even though Tetchō's in a difficult place right now, he still tries to do all his missions and socialize with these two. He trusts them the most, anyway.
Teruko still requests piggyback rides during times like these to try and get Tetchō's mind off of Tetchō.
He tries to—
But he seriously
Doesn't want to stop thinking about Jōno.
Doesn't want to forget him."...Are we going soon?.."
"..Yeah."
After making their way down the stairs in silence, the three, along with other cars filled with the rest of the Hunting Dogs members get in their cars, driving along to the location of Jōno's funeral.
It's lightly raining today— thundering.
Tetchō knows that Jōno would hate it.
'If Jōno were here.. he'd complain about the noise..'
He can feel tears in his eyes, quickly wiping them as soon as they surface. The other two he's in the car with don't notice.
Fukuchi wasn't allowed to attend the funeral. After all, who the hell was responsible for killing Jōno? That's right. Him.
After 10-20 minutes, the cars all park at the location. Kenji and some of the others from the ADA were attending. They didn't really invite the Port Mafia— since Tachihara didn't really tell them about his double agency, besides Mori, who suggested it and told him to. There was Chūya, though. And a few others.
They didn't really find out about Tachihara's situation there.
They were just.. confused.
Tetchō steps out of the car with the others, waiting for something to start. He hears murmuring, and feels the others' stares on him.
Some time passes, and people are going up the stand to say things.
Tachihara goes up.
"..Jōno.."
His voice shakes."Jōno was like a brother to me. He looked out for me— he was like a mentor. I hope he can rest in peace— I.."
For Tachihara, it was like losing his brother all over again. His biological brother— had hanged himself during the Great War. Akiko Yosano— attending the funeral— her face twisted a little in sorrow. After all, she witnessed this firsthand— his brother's corpse, hanging..slowly.
