A girl in early thirties sitting at the vanity, smiling and decorating herself all up. Her marriage was today. She was all decked up in heavy and expensive jewellery. Her lehenga was very pricey and she spent an uncountable amount of time looking at the mirror, many girls were surrounding her and looking at her in awe. The girl liked the attention she was getting, and why not her father was the richest of all her uncles and relatives. They believed in showing off to them. She was the only kid of her parents that’s what she was dearest to all.
All her cousins were impressed with the richness and the girl enjoyed flaunting it.
“See how beautiful she is looking?” the mother of the bride said. She ward off the evil eye of her daughter moving her hands around her head.
“Yes Aunty she is looking like a fairy.” Prajkta said looking at her cousin Kanchan. Kanchan rolled her eyes looking at Prajkta as she was looking at her like she was some Diva.
“Kannu Di!”Kanchan hissed at Prajkta calling her like this
“Shut up! How dare you call me Kannu? I am your elder only Didi. You have no status to call me that.” Prajkta cowered back but her Aunt pulled her ears painfully.
“You little Btich staring at my beautiful daughter and giving her a bad eye. I will pull out ..” Roopa detested
“S..Sorry Aunt..I will not call her anything.” Prajkta cowered back
“No. Just hold your ears and start doing sit ups.” Aunty looked at her daughter who looked satisfied with the punishment.
Prajkta gave teary eyes but she didn’t move, all other cousins laughed at her when she started to sit up. The tears of shame and anguish fall from her eyes. She was just eighteen. Last week she celebrated her birthday. She was from conservative family and her father was the mason who worked on a daily paid off basis.
“Sorry Aunt!”She said weakly. SHe was in not position to say anything, as per Roopa
“Now leave from here!” Roopa shouted and Prajkta ran towards her family.
