Natasha POV

It has been a year since the battle in New York, a little over a year I found Maya. I sigh, entering my apartment, kicking the door shut and dropping my jacket to the floor. I drag myself to my couch, slumping down on the cushions.

Merrrp

I look to the side of me and see my Liho, my confidant, my black cat who has been with me through a lot of things. She purrs, lightly jumping from the arm of the couch, walking towards me, walking on my lap and nudging her head into my stomach, which was badly cut. She looked up at me and if she could raise an eyebrow she would have.

"I know, I will sort it out."

Merrrp

"I know, I shouldn't use work to distract me from what I should be figuring out."

Merrrp, merrrp

"Why hasn't she come to see me?"

There was a long purr, a tilt of her head and a quiet merrrp.

"Should I go see her?" Tail swished, "Well, she is the director, I'm surprised we haven't run into each other." Merrrp. "I'll try and find her tomorrow." It looked like Liho had nodded before she grabbed my sleeve in her teeth, dragging me off the sofa.

"Okay, girl, I'm going."

"A year? You haven't spoken to the woman you're pining for, for a year?" Carol asked, sitting at my desk, in my chair, legs on the table and cutting and eating and apple with a knife.

"I am the Red Widow, I do not pine. Plus, it has been busy, the destruction of New York wasn't easy to sort out, nearly took a year to get back to normal." I stated, stood by the window looking out on to the clouds. I haven't left the Helicarrier since New York had been fixed.

Carol rolls her eyes, "It's like getting blood out of a stone, Jesus, what have you been doing since New York was sorted?" She asked me, I was about to answered when she got out of the chair and walked to me, "You've done fucking nothing apart from hide. So what if she knows you're now the Red Widow, so what if she knows you used to be Dreykov's whore?" I glare at her for that, "All you have done is hide and it was you who has guided her life to where she is now, why did you do that? Only to just run away? It's pathetic Maya! You're pathetic!"

"I would watch your words, Danvers." I growled lowly. I walk towards her, towering over her, "I can easily kill you."

"Yes, you could." Carol said before quickly pecking me on the lips, smiling, "But you won't because who would annoy your fine ass." She walked back to the desk, "We are getting you off this flying prison you have made for your self and we are going clubbing, end of. We need drinks and a lot of it!"

The Widow
Maya POV

The music was pumping through the building, it was strange being back on the ground but I had a beer in one hand and I had my other hand on Carol's waist, we were both dancing, not a care in the world.

It was just the two of us and the music, nothing else. We moved to dance back to back when I see a glimpse of red hair. I shake my head, downing the rest of my beer, tapping Carol on the shoulder. When she looked at me I nodded for us to go upstairs and lounge in the VIP area, perks of being the owner.

We both walk up the stairs when I get a hint of perfume I knew all too well. I get to the top of the stairs and look around, no sign, until someone taps me on the shoulder.
