SHINING STAR

I used to hide from who I was,
From all the flaws, the scars, the cuts,
I wanted desperately to be,
Someone else, someone flawless, free.

But then I stopped and took a breath,
And faced the mirror, faced myself,
It was a scary thing to do,
To see my flaws and own them too.

But as I looked, I started to see,
These flaws were what made me unique,
And so I chose to embrace them all,
To love myself, flaws and all.

I learned that I am more than enough,
That I don't have to hide my rough,
And now I walk with confidence,
Embracing all that makes me different.

So when you're feeling lost or small,
Remember this and stand up tall,
You are beautiful just as you are,
Flaws and all, you're a shining star.
