Once I got home, my phone rang, interrupting the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside me. It was Camryn.

Ugh what.

"I need your help," she said, her voice filled with urgency.

"What's wrong?" I asked, concern creeping into my tone.

"Open your door," she said simply, her words tinged with excitement.

Curious, I made my way to the front door, my heart pounding with anticipation. As I swung it open, I was met with the sight of Camryn standing on the other side, a mischievous grin playing at the corners of her lips.

"What's going on?" I asked, unable to suppress a smile at her infectious enthusiasm.

Camryn held up three dresses, each one more stunning than the last, a twinkle of excitement in her eyes. "Giovanni is taking me out on a date, and I don't know what to wear," she said, her voice filled with excitement.

"So you came all the way over here--," I started, a hint of amusement in my voice.

"I know our relationship is still being rebuilt, but I need your help," she interrupted, her tone earnest as she looked at me with pleading eyes.

I hesitated, the memories of our strained relationship still fresh in my mind. But despite everything, I couldn't deny the bond that still existed between us, the unbreakable tie of sisterhood that had endured even the darkest of times.

"Fine," I said, unable to suppress a smile at her eagerness. "Let's find you the perfect outfit."

As we sifted through the dresses, Camryn chattered excitedly about her budding relationship with Giovanni, her eyes sparkling with happiness. And despite the lingering doubts that still lingered in the back of my mind, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of hope for her newfound happiness.

As we settled on the perfect dress, Camryn threw her arms around me in a tight hug, gratitude shining in her eyes. "Thank you, Carmen," she said, her voice filled with emotion.

I returned her hug with equal fervor, the weight of our shared history melting away in the warmth of our embrace. "Anytime, Camryn," I said, a genuine smile tugging at the corners of my lips.

"Have you talked to Xavier yet?" she said, her voice tinged with apprehension.

"About what?" I said, trying to feign ignorance.

"Lifting the restraining order against you," she said, her words hanging heavy in the air.

"Oh," I said, feeling a knot form in the pit of my stomach at the mention of Xavier's name.

"He's ready to put everything behind him," she continued, her tone softening with understanding. "Especially after everything you've been through with--,"

"Have fun on your date," I interjected abruptly, desperate to change the subject before it veered into uncomfortable territory.

Camryn's expression softened, a knowing look passing between us. "We'll talk about this later," she said quietly, her voice a gentle reminder of the unresolved tensions that lingered between me and my brothers.
