"Alex," Carmen's weak voice called out.
Before I could react, Julianna viciously kicked Carmen, sending her crashing back to the ground. "Shut up, bitch," she spat, her face twisted with contempt.
My blood boiled with fury at the sight of Carmen being attacked, but Dante's chilling command cut through the chaos. "Sign the papers," he demanded, his voice cold and commanding.
Shaking his head,"Alex," Giovanni's urgent voice broke through the tension, a note of warning in his tone.
But before I could even register his words, the room erupted into chaos. The deafening sound of a gunshot echoed through the air, followed by the sickening thud of Dante's body hitting the ground.
Shock reverberated through me as I watched Dante collapse, a pool of blood spreading beneath him. For a moment, the world seemed to freeze in place, the gravity of the situation sinking in with bone-chilling clarity.
But even as panic threatened to overwhelm me, my focus shifted to Carmen, lying helpless on the floor, blood seeping from the wound inflicted by Julianna's cruel attack. With a surge of adrenaline, I rushed to her side, my heart pounding with fear and desperation.
"I'm sorry," Carmen's voice, weak and wavering, reached my ears.
Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as I knelt beside her, taking her trembling hand in mine. "It's okay. Everything is going to be okay," I reassured her, my voice shaking with emotion.
"Just stay with me," I pleaded, desperation lacing my words as I fought to keep her conscious.
Carmen's eyelids fluttered, her breaths coming in shallow gasps. "I'm sorry," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
I swear if she dies...
Fear clenched at my chest as I watched her struggle, each passing moment feeling like an eternity. But even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty, I refused to lose hope.
With every ounce of strength I possessed, I vowed to fight for her, to keep her safe at all costs. And as I looked into her eyes, filled with pain and uncertainty, I silently promised her that we would get through this together, no matter what obstacles lay ahead.
---------Hours later, the sterile scent of antiseptic filled the air as I paced the sterile corridors of the hospital, my heart heavy with worry. Every passing second felt like an eternity, each minute dragging on as I anxiously awaited news of Carmen's condition.
Giovanni stood beside me, his presence a silent comfort in the midst of turmoil. "She's going to pull through, Alex," he reassured me, his voice filled with conviction.
I nodded, trying to hold onto his words like a lifeline, but the fear gnawed at me relentlessly. "I can't lose her, Gio," I admitted, my voice choked with emotion.
