Chapter 1: "Opening Remarks"

It was the day she was waiting for.

'Good morning classmates! I'm Kane Harper Sullivan, and this is my presentation. The topic I chose is Love. You see, love is like a growing garland. It grows even though there are rainfalls and thunderstorms--'

'Okay okay stop. Miss Sullivan, diba sabi ko this is a formal presentation? Introduction pa lamang. You cannot use metaphors! Anong love ang sinasabi mo Ms. Sullivan? I cannot stand this behavior of yours anymore!'

Lagi akong bagsak kay Sir Navarro. Mataas ang pride ko but he humiliates me every time I try to present and bumawi sa kaniyang MINOR subject.

'Ano!? I mean--- Sir Navarro! Sabi niyo you wanted it to be creative!---'

'I think you misunderstood what I meant. Enough with your words. Hindi ka talaga nakikinig sa syllabus na prinovide ko. Next!'

'Bwisit, babagsakin nanaman ako ni prof. Antanga tanga mo Kane!' mahinhin niyang binulong sa sarili niya after going back to her seat.'

Kane Harper DC Sullivan, or Kane. Studies BS Psychology but aspires to be a lawyer. Today, they are assigned to present a presentation, the topic must be complicated, the catch is they must explain it clearly so that even children can understand that topic, some classmates chose the safest topics like Climate Change, Poverty, or Human Rights. But Kane chose a unique one, Love.

After a few presentations and so, their professor dismissed them.

'Yes! Finally!'

Gusto ko na umalis in this hell! Tumakbo ako nang mabilis to eat with my beloved friends, Bella, Gab, and Alex.

'Ka-Ne! Dito! Table 2!' pasigaw na isinabi ni Bella.

'Hi guys!'

'Ayoko! Katamad dito. SM us?' sinabi ni Gab.

'Ihhh. Canteen nalang tayo. Mas mura pa, may pancit, may dinuguan----' Alex said. 'Unless, libre mo.' she winked at Gab, waiting for a response.

'Oo na!' sinabi ni Gab na may unting sama ng loob.

Nagcheer and naghiyawan kami sa sinabi ni Gab. Yung mga kabilang tables inirapan kami, but we didn't care less. Pumunta kami in a ramen restaurant in the cold, air-conditioned SM sa downtown Manila.

'Soo, Kane kamusta presentation?' patanong ni Gab while she sips her noodles.

I didn't heard her. Iniisip ko parin ang mapapala ko after ako bumagsak sa presentation ni Sir Navarro.

'Kane?'

'Kane!'

'I'm sorry, ano sabi mo?' inangat ko ulo ko.

'Why so lutang Kane? Nanglibre na ako oh! You haven't even eaten. Ano ba nangyari?' Gab said na parang magulang na nakita ang anak nilang umuwi ng late.

'Maybe, nakipagbreak si Paulo sa kaniya!' Bella said nang paasar.

'Tumahimik ka nga!' hinampas ko si Bella nang malakas.

'Maybe bumalik yung favorite ex niya. Si Aeigh.' sinabi ni Alex in a mockingly way.

'Tangek! Bagsak ako sa presentation ni Sir Navarro.'

Hindi nga ako pinapresent eh, pinastop ako agad.

'ANO!? PINAGPUYATAN MO 'YON AH?'
hinampas ni Alex ung table.

Siyempre, sino pa bang hindi mashoshock after 'kong almost maospital because of that presentation and turns out, bagsak pa ako?

'Ganyan din naman sa mga lalaki. Mahal mo siya, pero hindi mo rin sure if mamahalin ka niya.' I said, 'Pero it's fine, babawi nalang ako next semester.'
