Mai laughed as she wiped the lipstick marks from Apollo's face. Her kisses must have been very generous as the ruby red marks extended to his temples and just over this eyebrows.
"Do I look ridiculous?" Apollo asked, his hands rested around Mai's hips.
"Yes-" She quickly pecked his lips, thankful that there was no more lipstick left on her lips to transfer onto his red-tinged skin. "But I do too. It's fine."
He glanced at the time on his phone. "Four more minutes until midnight."
"Any new year resolutions?"
Mai shrugged. "I...." Her fingers played with the buttons of his shirt. "I... don't know. To be a better person maybe?"
Apollo smirked. "I refuse to accept that cop-out answer. Give me more."
Her hands slipped under this shirt and landed on his upper chest. "You want more..."
He scoffed. "Not in that way!"
"Fine," She said bemusedly. "I want to finally find where I fit into this world. I want to learn more about me. I want to learn about my capabilities and strengths and actually feel useful for once in my life. I want to learn how to play pool. I want to buy a car. I want to kiss you a lot more. I mean, seriously; a lot more. I want to... I want to learn more about you. About who the hell Apollo Alexander is. Because you know you're a mystery and that's okay because I'm patient. But there will come a point where I will know everything about you. And that's a promise. And now I can't stop rambling so please stop me because I can't stop talking and-"
"Mai."
"Yes. Sorry."
Apollo placed a soft kiss on her lips. "I promise to be more open. And to be more outgoing and to say yes more. And I want to get another tattoo."
Mai gasped. "I want one too!"
Apollo brushed her hair from her face. "Then let's get tattoos."
Suddenly, the sound of cheers erupted from the deck upstairs as the room lit up from fireworks outside.
"Damn it!" Mai exclaimed, looking at the clock. "We missed the countdown."
"Doesn't matter," Apollo murmured, shaking his head slightly.
He quickly hoisted her up onto the counter and stood between her legs. His nose touched hers as he leaned close to her.
"We can have our own countdown."
Mai smiled. "Ten... Any last words?"
"Nine.. Thank you for entering my life."
"Eight... Thank you for entering mine."
"Seven... anything else?"
"Six... no, you?"
Apollo's lips curled up and he shook his head slightly. He gave Mai a look that communicated everything without speaking out loud. Words couldn't explain their emotions. They were both crazy about each other
