It's only been about an hours since I agreed to help Jess, and I'm nervously pacing my room, thinking about how to approach Miguel.

I'd bothered him in his office enough for the day, I already hate talking to him as is, let alone when he's irritated. Or maybe i'm just making excuses.

"God what did I get myself into," I whisper to myself and get up to look at my cluttered desk, seeing nothing but assignments from higher-ups and overly priced pens.

Due to my lack of powers, I'm tasked with paperwork, giving my presence some purpose as opposed to just sitting around.

"Lack of powers..."

My eyes widen at the sudden idea I spark and I'm quick to take action, putting my metal bracelet every member had up to my mouth. "Hey Jess, I did it!"

"That assignment you were supposed to have on my desk last week?"

"Uh, no. Something better!" I start looking through my pile of papers and grimace when I see how old some of them are, mouthing a small cuss at my laziness. "I have an idea of how to get Miguel to listen. I'm gonna make him want to listen."

There's a small silence where all I hear is typing before Jess hums. "You know he'll do just about anything you ask of him right?"

"Miguel? Yeah right, he wouldn't listen to me in a normal situation if it would help save his life."

"Just tell me the plan," She was uninterested in whatever else I had to say. "It better be good."

"You know how I sorta just sit around all day?"

"Technically you have a job, you just don't do it," Jess huffs, the paperwork still on her mind. "Continue."

I take a second, biting my nail for a moment as I thought my plan over. "Let's say, in theory, I'm bored of sitting around and doing nothing and decide to go to some random universe."

"y/n, what are you trying to say?"

"If I go to another universe and you ask Miguel to come get me... maybe we'll get closer? Like those adventure movies, you know? It should only take a few minutes, he'll be quick about it as he tends to be."

More silence meets me, and my nerves grow, realizing that maybe this wasn't the best idea, no matter how harmless I thought it would be.

Miguel could easily just get pissed at me and retreat further into a shell.

Contrary to my thoughts, however, Jess surprises me. "Are you sure you wanna try that?"

"You're considering it?!"

"If you think Miguel will come around, sure," She's got that bored tone in her voice, the same one she gets when someone's going out of their way to annoy her. "I trust you y/n, you know the rules. When you're back, however, no matter how mad or overjoyed Miguel is, I want your assignments on my desk in a properly ordered neat pile."

"I'm doing all of this for you, remember? Doesn't that count as work?" I bargain, trying to remind her that the only reason I'm going on this little vacation is so Miguel won't lose all of his organizations followers. "Besides, I'm almost done with the work... sorta."

"I'll see you when you get back. Once you've left I'll tell Miguel about where you are."

"Alright," I hang up and take a deep breath. "Let's get this over with."

. . .

The plot is coming together in my head y'all! It's working out
