'A spy'

Mattheo pov

Settling into the fact that i had a sister, was well...Fucking weird. For 18 years i had been an only child, or so i thought. But how could we have been separated? Why didn't my mother tell me? Wouldn't even put it past my father.

"Theo. Can we talk?"
A deep voice spoke from the other side of my door. As i curled myself up into my duvet, my cousin walked through along side my so called sister.

"Mattheo, i just wanted to say i understand this is all a bit much, have as long as you need to process it. But there is something important you must know."
The girl mentioned, looking from Draco's gaze back to mine.

"Where's Y/n?." I mumbled, staring at the blank space on my wall whilst sitting up sombrely, ignoring the words i had just been told.

"She's fine, she volunteered to cook for us. Mattheo please listen to me." The girl brushed her hair onto one shoulder as she slumped down onto the end of my bed. Draco too placing himself down beside me.

"Mate, it's quite serious." Draco spoke.

"We've already told Y/n, thought she should know first but...erm..."
As Y/n's name had a mention to this story, my head was soon perked. They had all my attention now.

"What?"

"She's not pregnant, Theo." Draco released, sitting himself up higher.

"How the fuck do you kn-"
I began.

"Calm down! Look, i've been spying and following the death eaters for as long as i can remember now, and i know about the mark that mother had. And that Y/n has..."
Chills rushed up my spine at the thought of my assumption being correct.
"The mark is for protection. Our ancestors made it so that whenever a Riddle male has fallen for a girl, the mark will form and claim them as there's. But there are side effects..."
The more she said the more it all began to make sense. Why had nobody ever told me this.
"It will give her symptoms of a pregnancy to make her think that she is carrying your baby in order for her to stay by your side no matter what. It's cruel. Terribly cruel. And it does other things too, beyond imagination."
As she finished the last of her essay, a tear rolled from her hazel eyes to which i too let one fall.

"Our mother. She wasn't always out of her mind was she?" Avoiding eye contact, my brain began to puzzle everything from my past, to my present allowing everything to make sense.
"The mark drove her insane, and it will do the same to Y/n." The words i spoke ached my chest knowing that i was responsible for this happening to an innocent Slytherin who i just so happened to have a crush on.

"Mattheo, this isn't your fault." Draco remarked, his hand gripping my shoulder.

"Just go. Both of you."

Elle Pov

I knew it was a bad idea lying that all on him within hours of meeting him. But it had to be said. That's the whole reason i'm here. To protect my baby brother from our dickhead of a father. Whether he chooses to be saved or to go back to the evil world, that's up to him to make the right decision.

"Y/n, you don't have to do this all by yourself."
I chuckled, Draco and i walking into the mess of a kitchen. Flour was splatted all across the work surface, the floor, and even the bloody ceiling, fuck knows how that got there?

"Sorry, not used to this." The short girl giggled back to us, brushing down her jeans which too had flour on them. "How is he?" She soon added, taking a bit of the mixture onto her index finger and tasting some.

"He's erm, fine. How are you?"
I truly was worried for the poor girl, i could only imagine how it must feel. I just hoped for her sake that she would be able to fight off the dark magic. We had only told her about the whole false pregnancy, couldn't bare tell her about the psychotic part.

"Y'know i'm actually okay, i'm sort of relieved." She half smiled, taking a wooden spoon and continuing to stir whatever it was she was making.

"Well, no doubt your light magic will keep the evil away." Draco let out, scooping a bit of mixture onto his finger and placing it into his mouth as my elbow nudged him on the forearm. Fuck sake Draco. We WEREN'T telling her about the evil shit.

"What?" The confused teen mumbled, a small giggle leaving her lips. Fucking hell.

"Nothing to worry about darling, promise." I smiled, warming the mood of the room again. Assuming my brother wasn't returning downstairs for the evening, we all tried to enjoy our night, Y/n was quite down for a while (probably wondering how Mattheo was coping) and Draco was well, Draco.
