Claire was sitting in her living room when the moving truck first pulled up into the neighboring driveway.

'MUMMMM? DID SOMEONE FINALLY BUY THE CATTERY????' she yelled.

'Yup, I heard they're moving in sometime this week,' Claire's mum shouted from the kitchen.

'Well I think that's them now,' Claire said with a hint of excitement in her voice.

She watched out the window as a dark red car slowly followed the moving truck up the driveway.

'Apparently they have a daughter, about your age,' Her mum whispered, now also in the living room.

Claire and her mum continued to look out the window, as a man and woman, both in about their early 50s stepped out of the vehicle.

'Are you sure? I don't see anyone else?' Claire whispered.

'Pretty sure,' came her mothers reply.

It wasn't for another 10-ish minutes until a younger girl stepped out.

Claire held her breath as she took in her new neighbor. The girl had dirty blonde hair, not short nor long, and it was hard to tell with it down but it looked like she had dyed the underneath a dark maroon. She wore a basic outfit, consisting of light blue cargo jeans, and a dark hoodie the read 'New York'. The what stood out most about her was how sad she looked. Her eyes were red and she had obviously been crying. She adverted her gaze from her parents, only staring at the ground. Claire wanted so bad to give her a big hug.

'You should invite her around to welcome her, Claire Bear. Finally make a friend that's worth keeping.' She had completely forgotten her mum was standing right next to her.

'Maybe,' Claire replied.

She looking out of the window, she watched as the girl grabbed her bags out of the car boot, and walked further up the driveway, and out of Claire's view.

'Maybe,' she repeated, loud enough that only she could hear it.

Then she turned her attention back towards the television, which was playing some random music videos to create some background noise.

Whatever had been playing ended, and Claire smiled as the gentle guitar of 'Scott Street' by Phoebe Bridgers started playing out of the speakers.
